Presentation
Monitoring devices and
electrical equipment
SIM
Smart Interface Modules (SIMs) are IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices) used in
energy efficiency applications which provide local physical interfaces with building
WAGES (Water Air Gas Electricity Steam) meters, sensors and actuators and
communicate through wired or wireless networks with remote monitoring and control
systems.
SIMs can be used to collect information from physically dispersed WAGES meters
that cannot be connected to the iRIO Energy management controller or EGX100
gateways because of their location.
SIMs communicate with gateways using:
bb wired protocol: Modbus RS 485 SIM modules are connected, using a shielded
twisted pair, to Ethernet / RS 485 gateways such as the EGX100
bb wireless protocol: ZigBee - commonly used for RF (Radio Frequency) WPANs
(Wireless Personal Area Networks). SIM modules and routers (depending on
distances) are connected, using an RF ZigBee network, to a specific Ethernet /
ZigBee gateway.

Configuration Status
A red flag will be displayed if there is a difference between the configuration on your
laptop and the last configuration loaded in the EGX105Z or the SIMs.
To be able to communicate with SIMs, the EG105Z and your laptop, all these flags
have to be green.
They will be green if the last modification carried out on the laptop has been loaded
in the EGX105Z or the SIMs (click on the "Start" button in the EGX105Z configuration
zone for an EGX105Z or, for a SIM, in the window displayed when you click on the
"configure" tab in the configuration zone for the SIMs).

12. Enter the new "IP address", "Netmask" and "Default gateway" required.
Note: note that the "Default gateway" parameter is not the EGX105Z gateway IP address.
"Default gateway" is the IP address of the Ethernet router of your building if communication to the
EGX105Z passes through a router. If your EGX105Z is not connected to an Ethernet router,
leave this area blank.
Note: leave "Received IP address by DHCP" set to "No" if you do not want to automatically
assign an IP address to the EGX105Z.
13. Do not forget to re configure your laptop IP settings (as described in point 6) to
use the same sub net network as your EGX105Z if the new IP address
configured is not compliant with 192.168.0.X.
Note: you can also change EGX105Z IP settings by accessing the web page of the gateway. For
this, open a web browser and enter the IP address: 192.168.0.100. Then select "Network" and

7. Transmission interval
The transmission interval determines the rate of at which the SIM6BZ sends
data to the coordinator. The following values can be selected:
b 30 seconds
b 60 seconds
b 120 seconds (2 minutes)
b 240 seconds (4 minutes)
b 480 seconds (8 minutes).
Note that the Xflow data refresh rate also depends on the transmission interval
selected on SIM6BZ.
For example, if the transmission interval selected on the SIM6BZ is 480 seconds,
data will be updated every 480 seconds on the Zigbee gate way. On iRIO, Xflow will
poll for data as defined by the user and the data read will be the last updated value
on the Zigbee gateway.
To improve the time resolution of data on synoptics, charts & reports that are update
in real time, select lower transmission intervals.
The table below shows the SIM6BZ battery life expectancy for values pulse
frequencies & transmission intervals.
Transmission interval Pulse Frequency on inputs(Hz) Years
30 seconds 3 2.51
30 seconds 8 2.09
480 seconds 1 18.84
480 seconds 3 12.56
480 seconds 8 7.53
Note: the above results are for a pulse length of 25 ms on all measurements on 3 SIM6BZ

Modbus protocol is used through the Ethernet TCP/IP connection layer. This
connection is used between the iRIO Energy management controller, the laptop and
EGX105Z and EGX100 gateways. The Ethernet TCP/IP part makes it possible to
connect the energy management solution to the internet.
Note: you need to put this switch on your local Ethernet network if you need more than one
connection to your iRIO.
If you have only a laptop connected to your iRIO, you do not need a switch.
However you will need a switch if you have an EGX100 or EGX105Z connected on the same
Ethernet network.

recommendations Addressing on Modbus Ethernet TCP/IP
Each device connected to the Modbus Ethernet TCP/IP network has three
independent connection parameters:
bb Parameter1: IP address. This address identifies the device connected to
the Ethernet network.
Each IP embeds the services described in "Modbus Ethernet TCP/IP Services"
(see page 86). An IP address activates the following services via virtual ports:
SMTP: 25
FTP: 21
HTTP: 80
Modbus read/write operations exchanged between laptop, EGXs and iRIO: 502
Example: To read data of Modbus device connected to an EGX100 from your iRIO,
you read the IP of the EGX100 on your iRIO and access port 502 to obtain the values
contained in the Modbus device.
bb Parameter2: Subnet mask. this data specifies the local network to which the
device is linked. The subnet mask also determines, for every address, if the device is
linked to the local network or not.
In the example below, the subnet mask is: 255.255.255.0 and the iRIO IP address is
192.168.0.2. This means that all IP addresses beginning with 192.168.0.x will be
included in the local network of the iRIO.
DB127528
iRIO
IP: 192.168.0.2
Mask: 255.255.255.0
In the example above, this is the case for all the devices except EGX100 gateway
N2, for which the last digit in the IP address before the "x" is 2 instead of 0.
This gateway is therefore not included in this local network and iRIO cannot
communicate with it.
Note: If the subnet mask=255.255.0.0 (i.e. an additional 0), we take into account IP addresses
192.168.x.x.
bb Parameter3: Gateway address. This is the IP address where you have to forward
IP information to other devices located outside the local network. Most of the time the
gateway is the internal IP of the router.
Note: If no router is used, leave the gateway parameter blank.
DB127773

SECURITY RECOMMENDATION:
If you use a router to isolate your network from the public network, we advise you to
filter the public IP addresses allowed to read your iRIO or EGX100. You should also
filter the devices allowed to send information from your network to the public
network.
You can also change the port number of the IP address in your router mapping table.
It is widely known that port 80 is the default HTTP port (port used for iRIO access).
You can remap this port to indicate to the router that port 80 is now available from
another port number to access iRIO web pages from the public internet.

Technical characteristics
The iRIO is an energy management controller based on an Atmel AT91RM9200
(ARM9) CPU/Win CE board running Schneider Electric Xflow embedded software
for telemetry applications.
Hardware
bb Enclosure: PVC UL94-V0, modular format, DIN rail mount, screw terminal
connection, separable electronics.
bb Conditions of use: temperature: 25 to +70 C; humidity: 95 %
bb Standards: IEC 61131-2 compliant
vv EMC: EN 61000-6-2 for immunity; EN 61000-6-4 for disturbances
vv Lightning: 61000-4-4; 61000-4-5
vv Electrical safety: EN 61950.
bb IMPORTANT: this is a Class A product. In a domestic environment, this product
may cause radio interference which may require special measures to be taken.
bb CPU board: Atmel AT91RM9200 180 MHz CPU with 16 MB flash memory, 16 MB
DRAM and 2 MB SRAM, running a custom WIN CE (4.2) version.
bb Communications: 2 RS 485 ports, 1 RS 232 port or GSM internal modem,
Ethernet 10BaseT/100BaseTx; one of the RS 485 links (RS 485: COM4) is
accessible from the power supply enclosure (explained later in this document).
bb Memory expansion: a Compact Flash device is included.
bb I/O management: a complete range of I/O boards can be provided. All these
boards are recognised automatically by the iRIO.
bb Third-party equipment I/O management: PLCs, controllers, meters, inverters,
HMIs, etc. on various communication links (serial RS 485, RS 232, Ethernet) and
protocols (standard or proprietary).
bb A Watchdog device for both hardware and software prevents the iRIO from
remaining in an unknown status. In case of any problem (application or hardware
environment), the iRIO automatically restarts.
Software
The OS layers include a boot utility and a custom version of Win CE 4.2.
WIN CE TCP/IP is used for Ethernet communications, but the stack used for server
and client PPP communications (modem or local RS 232 link) is proprietary.
The application software is Schneider Electric Xflow embedded software for
telemetry applications.
Capacity:
bb 2000 variables (I/O variables + internal variables (calculation, system information)
bb 1000 alarms
bb 50 history files (alarm, event, measurement files, etc.). Each file can save up to

Disks
bb SRAMDISK : 2 MB storage directory for files containing measurements, alarms,
connections, events, states, outgoing calls and the application configuration.
bb SD board and CompactFlash (storage memory expansion) interfaces.
bb FLASHDISK: 8 MB, embedded firmware (Xflow) and Web profile Xflow. Includes
notably a Web server, an XML parser and a database. All have been developed and
are maintained by Schneider Electric.
The main communication protocols are:
bb HTTP (Ethernet and PPP)
bb SMTP
bb DHCP (can be disabled)
bb FTP
bb SNTP
bb SOAP (envelope to allow direct XML requests from a third-party IT application)
bb Hayes (modem management, including GSM extensions)
bb Modbus (modem and serial), Modbus TCP (Ethernet)
bb Napbus , which is a proprietary extension of the Modbus protocol : this protocol
supports auto-description of the iRIO database, structured files (timestamped end
organised data and raw file transfer, time management, etc.).
Security considerations
The iRIO energy management controller provides remote access to critical data and
networks. These functions have been secured:
bb no access is allowed to the system without prior identification. All connections are
logged and, depending upon modem capacities, caller ID is supported. Unsuccessful
attempts to connect from Xflow are logged and delayed to avoid multiple attempts.
For each remote connection, a maximum number of outgoing calls per day can be
configured
bb the operating system is in no way accessible: it is a single binary file loaded at boot
in DRAM and cannot be altered
bb the Web server included has been developed by Schneider Electric and does not
allow any access other than to Xflow application Web pages. No Microsoft
components are used except for low-level OS utilities and drivers and no ActiveX or
Java applets are used. The WIN CE version has been built without support for
DCOM
bb web access to Xflow requires a user name and a password. An RSA encryption is
used for the password (private/public keys). A new key is calculated for each new
session. A session times out after 20 minutes without any action
bb the password never appears in natural language (neither in the Web pages nor in
the configuration files)
bb the session number is needed in the URL to be sure that the user is still the same.
This session number is also encrypted (which means it is not predictable)
bb we have not heard of any viruses in WIN CE 4.2 and, if there are any, iRIO does
not offer any entry points for them
bb there is no need for a regular security patch for the operating system. iRIO may be
used as an IP router (modem/Ethernet). This function is only available on order and
cannot be activated by configuration.
Schneider Electric has audited Xflow network security: the only critical issue was
the IP routing function, which has been since disabled by default and will be provided
only for special orders.

Wiring recommendations
The typical cable characteristics are given in the table below.
Characteristics Dimensions
Power supply (24 V DC) Flexible 3 x 0.75 mm2
RS 485 network Flexible, 2 pairs, twisted and shielded 0.6 mm2 - 9/10
A) Input wiring
bb The conductors for low level signals such as digital or analog inputs should be
remote from those for power supply, phone or commands such as digital outputs.
See your local electrical regulations.
bb Use a separate cable for each input. Otherwise, multipair cable should be used for
one type of measurement: either analog or digital.
bb The cable should be shielded for analog data.
bb The shield should be connected on the iRIO module side and kept open on the
measurement side. The shield should be connected to the ground with a cable of
large cross section.
bb The screen should be connected to the ground on both sides.
C) Network wiring
bb It is recommended to use one pair, and preferably two pairs, of twisted and
shielded cable. The second pair is used if the signal ground is needed. For an
RS 485 network, the potential difference between the data-pair conductors
determines the signal without the ground being officially involved. The system may
operate without signal ground connection, but reliability and noise immunity may be
sacrificed as a result. Non-optically isolated links need a signal ground wire to keep
the mean voltage of each wire of a node with respect to signal ground (called
common-mode voltage) within the -7 to +12 volt range, in order to reduce noise,
transient currents and also emissions and disturbances.
bb The shields should be connected to the ground on both sides to ensure good
protection of RS 485 links, paying attention to the equipotentiality between the two
grounds if they are located in two completely different buildings. Electromagnetic-
compatibility and application requirements determine whether you need a shield. A
shield both prevents the coupling of external noise to the bus and limits emissions
from the bus. Generally connect the shield to a solid ground (normally the metal
frame around the system or subsystem) with a low impedance at one end and a
series RC network at the other end. This arrangement prevents the flow of DC
ground-loop currents in the shield. The consequences of connecting remote grounds
together must be considered. Only the impedance in the wire connecting the ground
limits the current that results from this voltage potential. RS 485 recommends using
a 100 Ohm resistor in series with signal ground path in order to limit ground currents.
bb Termination should only be used with high data rates and long wiring runs.
Termination is used to match the impedance of a node with the impedance of the
transmission line being used. When impedances are mismatched, the transmission
signal is not completely absorbed and part of it is reflected back into the transmission
line. Pre-polarisation prevents differential noise causing false frame detection along
the network.

6 System control
The following options available are:
bb system shut down: can be used to shut down the Xflow application
bb system reset: can be used to shut down and automatically restart of the Xflow
software.
7 Configuration management
The options available are:
bb Download configuration
Once this option is selected, click "OK": a dialog box will ask you what you want to do
with the file: open it or save it where you want (the file is sent to the laptop from iRIO).
Note: depending on your OS and its configuration, this dialog box can appear in a different
language than the one selected in the Xflow web interface. For example, if you are running
a French version of Windows XP, the dialog box will be displayed in French.
If you want to start with the backup, just select "remove configuration file". This
choice will make Xflow stop, remove its entire configuration file then restart. If a
backup is found, Xflow will run with it.
Note: Xflow will not remove the backup configuration as discussed in Save configuration in flash
memory.

DB400974
The GSM connection will work only if the GSM level of reception is: between -100 db
and 0 db. You can read this information in the Connection menu and MODEM link.
You can move the GSM antenna to improve reception if necessary.
Also do not forget to enter your ISP parameters in the System parameter web
page (see previous section "System parameter web page"), otherwise you cannot
send email or files to another database.
Note: you have to configure the modem if you receive an iRIO package with GSM modem
integrated.
9. click on "Create".
Note:
IMPORTANT: input or output values will be stored in iRIO only if they have a variable name.
Each time you want to delete an iRIO card, you have to first delete all variables linked to this
card, otherwise you will get an error message.
The complete procedure described above is the same for an Analog card.
Xflow launches auto-detection and your Modbus devices will be detected. Once the
products are added to the peripherals menu, you can add variables for each type of
information provided by the product (current, voltage, power factor, THD, energy,
power values):
11. Click on the device detected
12. On the bottom of the page, click "add a variable - MULTIPLE"
13. Enter a variable name for each pre defined information type (current, voltage,
power and energy information). For example: Ia is phase 1 current for a
PM800 series (see table below).
DB400976
Note:
IMPORTANT: values from Modbus devices will be stored in iRIO only if they have a variable
name.
Each time you want to delete a device, you have to first delete all variables linked to this device,
otherwise you will get an error message.
Note:
IMPORTANT: the product address can be the address of a Modbus product connected to the
EGX100, the address of a SIM6BZ or SIM10Z connected to the EGX105Z or the address of a
Modbus device connected to the SIM10Z in tunnelling mode.
Once the variables and peripherals linked to the EGX100 or EGX105Z have been
created, two parameter values have to be modified:
bb Delay of failure (ms): this parameter is applicable for all peripherals created. You
can modify it by opening the peripheral configuration. If the peripheral is connected
below an:
vv EGX100, the Delay of failure must be 2000 ms
vv EGX105Z, the Delay of failure must be 5000 ms
bb Refresh period (ms): this parameter is applicable for all variables created. You
can modify it by opening the variable configuration. If the variable is linked to a
peripheral connected to an:
vv EGX100, the Refresh period must be 1000 ms
vv EGX105Z, the Refresh period must be 2000 ms.
Note:
IMPORTANT: values from Modbus devices will be stored in iRIO only if they have a variable
name.
Each time you want to delete a device, you have to first delete all variables linked to this device,
otherwise you will get an error message.
In the same way as on the Modbus network, with the Ethernet connection, you can add other
Modbus products connected through the EGX100. In Type, select the product "PLC Modbus
TCP" (follow the same procedure as in described in MANUAL MODE in Peripherals: Equipment
on Logic/Analog Input/Outputs (see page 120).
If you lose communication with a Modbus device connected over a Modbus TCP-IP gateway
(EGX105Z or EGX100), click on "Try a connection" to recover communication. The Try a
connection command is found on the bottom of the configuration page for the peripheral.
Note: once the recipient has been created, you can read its status in the recipient menu (see
"Trouble shooting and diagnostic" - "iRIO reception" in the "Maintenance" chapter).
Note: First backup, Second backup and Delay are optional parameters:
First backup: the recipient who will receive the alarm if the main recipient is unavailable.
Second backup: the recipient who will receive the alarm if the main recipient and the first
backup are unavailable.
Delay: time (seconds) after which an alarm switches to the next group in the event of failure to
the main recipient. This means that you do not have to wait for the end of a groups backup calls
(which may take several minutes) to move to the next group).
You can send an email regarding a threshold for a value detected in the same
way as an SMS (see "Creating and sending a text message (SMS)" or cyclically
(for example: each hour).
Notes: if you leave the Email address of the sender blank, iRIO has a default email address:
[email protected].
IMPORTANT: check that the SMTP of your provider does not lock this address if you do not enter
the Email address of the sender. Depending on the provider, you may need an email address
compliant with the SMTP, so in "Email of the sender", enter an email address supplied by your
SIM card provider or IT manager. (for example: smtp.myprovider.fr with email address of the
sender: [email protected]).
(which may take several minutes) to move to the next group.
Note: if you want to send the email under others conditions, see "Creating an alarm" for the
alarm Origin parameter.
Note: once an alarm has been created, you can check its status (see Trouble shooting and
diagnostics - section iRIO alarm status in the "Maintenance" chapter).
Energy monitoring devices are installed at the customer site and configured to send
data to Energy Online. Customers can then login to their Energy Online account to
access energy usage information via a public website.
iRIO connections to the Energy Online web site are used mainly when you want to
monitor multiple iRIOs connected at different sites. In this way, you can monitor
energy information from different iRIOs on the same web page.
Note: to obtain an FTP address, login and password to send iRIO files, you will need to contact
your local Schneider Electric Sales Representative. Schneider Electric will provide the
Energy Online url, user name and password to access the Energy Online website.
Follow the steps below to create and send a report from iRIO to the Energy Online
database in order to be able to read your energy consumption on the Schneider
Electric website:
bb Step 1: Create accounts and meter names
bb Step 2: Create the FTP recipient
bb Step 3: Build the report
Note: the meter name is the name that you give to the meter (PM700, PM9C, Water meter, gas
meter) which reports the energy measured (for example: Account name: "Hotel_Chambery"
and Meter name: "Water_consumption, Floor1_power_consumed, etc...").
Note: if you want to send other units of measure please contact your Schneider Electric office.
All information recorded in the report will be assigned a date and time set in iRIOs
clock. You can set this clock in the System Parameter web page (access from the
configuration menu via System parameter). For Winter/Summer time changes, you
have to reset the iRIO clock. iRIO will not modify automatically the date and time, it is
the configurators responsibility.
11. Once all variables are selected, click on "add to the report"
12. Click on "Continue to the REM variables identification"
13. For each variable select its account name, meter name, commodity and
unit of measure (For this solution, only Water, Gas and Electricity
commodities are compliant).
DB401371
14. Enter the "Channel" number. If you return more than one information item per
meter name you have to use other channel numbers. Two different variables,
for the same meter name and account name, cannot have the same channel
number. The channel number cannot exceed 9 so the maximum number of
information items (or variables) per meter is 9.
15. Click on "Finish".
The report is now ready to be sent to Energy Online. Contact your Schneider Electric
office to obtain the Energy Online web site url, login and password. Once, the first
report is sent (after the period of sending defined), you should be able to read your
energy and power information.
Note: Hysteresis is only for alarms relating to a variable. It is the difference to be added or
removed from the value to trigger a return to normal. This prevents the phenomenon of
fluctuation around the threshold value.
Example: you have configured a " > = " alarm with 20 as the threshold (the alarm is triggered
when the variable exceeds 20) and a hysteresis of 2. The return to normal will take place when
the value falls below 18.
Note: this alarm can be used to read an alarm message on Xflow. Also you can send a text
message to a cell phone or an email regarding a specific value.
Note: here the alarm has no type because the only purpose of this alarm is to detect when a
product stops working This alarm can be used for product loss of communication (for
example loss of communication for Modbus products connected to UPS-2: COM4).
Note:
This alarm has to be used (with Cyclical call option) to send a report cyclically to a database or
to Energy Online (the Energy Management Database of Schneider Electric).
For more information, please see "Creating and sending a report to StruxureWare
Energy Online".
Note: once an alarm has been created, you can check its status (see "Trouble shooting and
diagnostics" - "iRIO alarm status" in the "Maintenance" chapter ).

2 To convert a variable
By selecting one of the options displayed, you can access another sub-window
among the following.
bb "Change of scale":
DB400980
Parameter descriptions:
vv "Keep the initial value": if you check "yes", the variable will be kept and a new
one will be created with the name you entered in the field "name of the new
variable"
vv "Multiplier": the coefficient to use to convert the variable. You can use the list or
enter you own value typed in the blank field next to the list.
The value returned to iRIO from the SIM is in mV. This value changes according to
the temperature detected by the PT100. By default, iRIO displays the measurement
in mV. To display the result in C, the change of scale function can be used on the
variable that returns the analog value from AI0 of the SIM10M:
The Crouzet converter (cat. no.: 88 950 153) returns 0V for 0C and 10000 mV (or
10V) for 260 C. The mV to C linear conversion factor is therefore: 260/10 000 =
0.026.
1. C
reate the unit of measure "C" in the "Units" sub menu of the Configuration
menu.
2. Go to the "variable" sub menu of the Configuration menu.
3. Select the variable linked to AI0 of SIM10.
4. Select "Convert this variable".
5. Select "change of scale".
6. Select "no" for "Keep the initial value" (i.e. do not store the intial variable).
7. In "Name of the new variable" enter a new name for the new variable.
8. Go to the "Other Coefficient" field and enter "0.026".
9. Select "C" for the new unit of measure.
10. Click on "OK".
Now the variable directly returns to a value in degrees (C) without displaying the
measured value in mV.
This page will help user to convert a variable between some common dimensions.
You can keep the variable (modify it) or create a new one.
Notes: Xflow does not check the validity of the dimensions. It cannot know if the variable is really
an energy in J, for instance, because this is not part of the information managed by Xflow. Only
the user knows that the variable Xflow is reading in a PLC is an energy.
bb "Pulse weight":
DB401182 This page will help user to configure pulse weight of a variable (assuming the
variable is a pulse unless it has no meaning) .
You can keep the variable (modify it) or create a new one.
Notes: Xflow does not check the validity of the variable. It cannot know if the variable is really a
pulse, because this is not part of the information managed by Xflow. Only the user knows that the
variable Xflow is reading in a PLC is a pulse.
3 To add a variable
Click on "add a variable".
Here are the steps to manually create a variable with the description of the different
fields:
1. Enter a Name
2. Select the Peripheral linked to the variable that you are creating.
Note: we consider here only a new variable linked to a device connected to iRIO.
"System" and "virtual" are not described here.
3. S elect the Channel (it can be a pre-defined variable of the device or you can
add a new variable by selecting "edit address": see details below).
4. Enter the Address of the new variable required: only for the "edit address"
command (see mapping of the Modbus register address).
5. Select Reading format (only for the "edit address" command).
6. Select the Unit associated with this variable.
7. Keep Refresh period in automatic (except for variables linked to a device
connected to a gateway: 1000 ms for EGX100 or 2000 ms for EGX105Z).
8. Leave the Operation field blank (default).
9. Select "Finish".
bb Edit an address
Thanks to this option, you can add other Modbus register addresses linked to your
devices. By default we report current, voltage, energy, power, THD and power factor
values.
You can read/write other information if available in the product mapping which is not
included in the pre-defined list (for product mapping, see user guide of the device
concerned).
bb Storage Format
When a new variable is created (by the"edit address" command), you can modify its
storage format. This format is used to display the read value in the dashboards and
the alarm.
In most cases, choose: Boolean for a logic variable (discrete), IEEE for an analog
variable and DIEEE for a meter variable.
5. Select the unit that you want to associate with your variable:
DB401087
Note: if you can access a unit created you can delete it (see Units sub-menu in configuration web
page). This process is allowed only if the unit is not linked to a variable.
The dashboard function will allow you to add different variables together (for
example: the sum of all energy values (kWh) to obtain the global energy
consumed).
2
1
Example of a dashboard.
1 Value
This creates the sum of the variables selected (there is no check on the values
added regarding the units of measure of each variable selected).
The only exception is that the dashboard function cannot add: boolean values, string
values or date/time values regarding the variable format.
2 Creation of a variable
Enter a variable name for the dashboard Value.
Note: this variable can be re-used in another dashboard so you will have "dashboard of
dashboard".
For example, you can create a dashboard for each section of a hotel (one dashboard
for Floor1, one dashboard for Floor2 and one dashboard for Floor3).
After, you can create another dashboard for the whole hotel.
Note: you can display a dashboard as a home page by clicking the button "select as home
page" or by setting it in the Users web page in the configuration menu (only available with
Administrator access).
Dashboards are automatically displayed in table format on the top of the web page
and as a pie chart underneath:
DB401044
A graphic in the form of a chart can be created from the web page where you
configure a dashboard.
DB401046
Note: for more information about charts and their options "Charts" on 145.
These coefficients are values that you use for the Normalization and Valorization
function in Chart configuration. When you create a chart, you can associate your
energy curve with additional curves that are normalized and valorized with these
coefficients. Once the coefficients are created, you can select them during chart
configuration (see procedure in the Chart configuration section) to generate these
additional curves.
Example of coefficient configuration. Note: for example, an energy price coefficient is a valorization coefficient and the number of
workers in the building is a normalization coefficient.

Description
We will now explain how to manage heating (for example: in meeting rooms when
they are occupied or empty) or carry out simple load control (for example lighting
control).
With this function, you divide your building up into different areas. An area can be a
group of rooms or different parts of the building. You then assign regulation rules to
each area for a typical week. The typical week is a weekly schedule that you create
(which will be used for all the weeks during the year) to enable regulation over the
period defined.
If required, within the schedule created (by typical week configuration), you can
define a reservation period (specific regulation when the room is occupied for a
period) and an exception period (for holidays, for example):
bb Reservation period: this is a period when you force the regulation even if your
typical week is activated.
bb Exception period: you can force regulation to another regulation order even if your
typical week is activated. An exception order has a higher priority than a reservation
or typical week order.
We will now describe the different steps to create different load control functions:
bb create a temperature control area
bb create a simple load control area
bb create a typical week for temperature or simple control
bb create a reservation (Optional)
bb create an exception period (Optional).
2 Temperature inside: choose which sensor, from the input device list, provides
the reference temperature for regulation. The regulation runs until the inside
temperature reaches one of the four levels selected (Boost, Comfort, Reduced or
Out of frost).
3 Temperature outside: choose which sensor, from the input device list, provides
the outdoor temperature.
4 Remote control heating: choose the variable corresponding to the logic output
controlling the heating equipment (it can be the logic output of a SIM or the iRIO
card).
5 Boost button (optional): you select the variable to be linked to a logic input of
the iRIO card or SIM logic input. When the input is ON, regulation is forced to heat up
the area. The purpose is to allow manual activation of your logic output according to
a logic input status. When the temperature level (boost order) or Boost time is
reached the boost command is disabled.
Boost time: Maximum duration of boost heating when the boost button is pressed. If
the boost temperature is reached before the end of the boost time, heating is
stopped. If not, you must press the button again to continue heating.
7 Hourly program: once the Typical week schedule is created, the program issued
to Typical configuration is written here (It will be defined on 143).
6. Click on "Continue".
7. Enter your different threshold values for Boost, Comfort, Reduced and Out of
frost orders (see note below). These values will be used for your regulation.
8. Click on "Finish".
We call these thresholds "Comfort, Reduced and Out of frost" because most of the
time users need different regulation depending on the building configuration and how
the area is occupied.
For reservation (see 144), we will take into account only the temperature level
entered for reservation: the four main temperature thresholds (regulation orders) will
be disabled.
The simple load control function controls an output according to a schedule only. As
opposed to temperature load control, the logic outputs are not controlled according
to the temperature level.
DB402646
4
5
1 Digital Output (DO) X: choose the variable corresponding to the logic output
controlling the equipment (it can be the logic output of a SIM or the iRIO card).
2 Boost button (optional): you select the variable to be linked to a logic input of
the iRIO card or SIM logic input. When the input is ON, regulation is forced to control
the area. The purpose is to allow manual activation of your logic output according to
a logic input status. When the boost time is reached the boost command is disabled.
Boost time: duration of boost when the boost button is pressed.
4 Hourly program: once the Typical week schedule is created, the program issued
to Typical configuration is written here (It will be defined on 143).
5 Simple control value by default: you can select "1" or "0" to switch respectively
on or off the output outside of the programmed schedule (outside of the typical week
program created).
6. Click on "Finish".
The typical week function lets you to create a yearly program according to the
configured weekly schedule. When the program is created, this configuration is
repeated for all weeks of the year:
1. In the area created, select "Define the typical week".
2. Enter Name (for example: program1).
3. Select "Active days".
4. Enter "Name of the schedule" (for example: schedule1).
5. Select your Start time and End time.
6. Select Type of regulation inside temperature. You select the temperature you
want to reach by enabling regulation when you are in the schedule (only for
temperature control area).
7. Select Type of regulation out of the schedule (only for temperature control
area).
8. Select Simple control value (only for simple load control area). You select the
value that you want to apply to the logic output inside the schedule
programmed (1= switch on or 0=switch off).
9. Click on "Finish" (this saves a period of regulation in your typical week that will
be repeated all the year).
Now you can add another period of regulation to this typical week by clicking on "add
a week" in your area configuration (or by clicking on "add a range" if you are in a
weekly program web page).
Note: on the bottom of the window described above, you have an option called "lock this range"
that can be used to protect the data that you have entered.
Create a reservation
A reservation is a period that forces regulation to a specific temperature value or a
value "0/1" (for simple load control) during your typical week. Current orders will not
be taken into account during a reservation period. For example, you can use the
reservation function to satisfy occupancy needs in a given area that are different
from those of the typical week schedule. The reservation period has a higher priority
than the typical week schedule.

will be the differential value for every Month period.
Select or add a variable for variable for current value & variable for Last saved value
2 variables.
Example
For a "Yearly (Per Month) period:
bb select or add a variable for current value to store current month data
bb select or add a variable for last saved value to store Last month data
bb these variables can be reused in Charts,synoptics,Dashboard..etc.
The energy tariffs are different from one country to another or within a country but it
is generally based on tariff periods with different prices per KWh in each period. Then
there are Supplementary elements of tariff linked to parameters such as the peak
power demand.
The tariff management will simply provide the values of active and reactive energy
consumed per tariff period, expressed in kWh or in currency. The expression in
currency only takes into account the price of energy during the tariff period: it doesnt
take into account penalties (such as power peak demand) or other specific
calculations.
User also would want to have the detail of the energy consumption for each timeslot
(in kWh or Currency).User can eventually create the variables (outputs)
need for this.
For a given timeslot, users have 4 energy variables entries:
bb active energy consumption (kWh)
bb reactive energy consumption (kWh)
bb active energy cost (currency)
bb reactive energy cost (currency).
On this page, User can manage current tariff and add new ones. A tariff is recognized
by a Name, a description, a mode (production or consumption) and status.
After clicking on continue, User will be asked to give the module the name of the
variables for the energy inputs, the energy costs and the total energy values. User
can submit tariff whenever Usersve finished filling all the required variables.
User can edit the unconfirmed fields through the Modify links whenever.
Configuration of a tariff
Click on Create Configuration to create new tariff configuration.
DB404663
Its not possible to mix them both, each have their own possibilities and the user
must choose wisely the most accurate to match his needs.
Configuration by calendar
DB404664
If User has chosen a configuration by calendar, User can setup a whole year of data
on this page. At first, User needs to enter the timeslots that User will need. Each
timeslot will be recognized by a name and an energy cost for each month.
Example
Lets create 3 timeslots with the Add a timeslot button. Before User click on Create,
the below screen is displayed.
DB404660
This is the main page of the calendar configuration. On top, you can edit, add,
suppress Timeslots & edit energy costs through the Modify button.
On the second part of the page, you have a full calendar. Which have on the lines all
the data of the weekday of for the year and 2 lines in the bottom Saturday and
Sunday for all the week-ends in the year.
On the left, you have a color code that represent each time slot. The aim is to enter
the id of the timeslot you want for each cell in the calendar. you have two ways of
editing that :
1. you can enter a timeslot ID directly in the cell by clicking on it, youll be
prompted to enter it. If the ID entered exist (in the example: 0, 1 or 2), you can
submit by clicking aside the cell or simply pushing enter. The cell will take the
color of the ID you entered.
DB404667
2. you can also copy/paste a full line by navigating through the month column,
youll see the column highlighting :
DB404669
To copy a line, simply click on the month name ( or Saturday/Sunday ) user want to
copy, there will be a message to tell user that the cells have been copied, lets copy
the month of January :
DB404670
To paste the month of January, click on the month user wish to paste the cells, a
Message will tell you it has been pasted:
DB404671
If you are not satisfied, you can delete a month by selecting it and clicking on the
Clear selection button.
For example to delete the entries on august:
DB404673
The first checkbox on top of the table allows you to select the whole calendar to clear
it all.
Once you validate the calendar by pressing the submit button, appears a new link on
the bottom of the page. This link allows you to manage specific period so as you can
have all the flexibility you need to match more complex situations:
DB404691
If you click on that link, youll come to the specific periods page:
DB404675
Top part of the page is here to recall the current calendar configuration; its not
editable on this page.
On the second part of the page, you can add, edit and suppress specific periods.
The specific periods allow you to specify a period whose IDs are going to replace the
current.
Lets say that we want the first two weeks of July to have a different configuration.
The current July configuration is :
DB404676
And we would like to have the timeslot all day long during the first two weeks of July.
All you need to do is to add a new specific period by clicking the Add a specific
period button, put the correct date (hour if needed, midnight by default) and change
the cells as you wish as shown below
DB404677
You can now submit your specific period by clicking on Submit specific periods or
click on Add a specific Period to add other specific periods & submit the Specific
periods.
Now, the timeslot 2 will be considered for all hours of the first two weeks of July, days
of July.
Remaining will have the calendar configuration.
As for the calendar configuration, you will first have to enter your timeslots.
Clicking on Add a timeslot button allow you to create new ones.
For this example, were going to create the same 3 timeslots as for the calendar
configuration and submit them by clicking on the create button. You should obtain
something like that:
DB404679
You are now on the main page. On top, you have all your current timeslots; you can
edit them, add new ones or suppress existing ones. The second part is dedicated to
the digital inputs, its precisely where you need to match the input to the variables.
Before creating any combination, you must first do this matching.
The variable on the left represents the least significant bit. For our example, lets say
we have 3 entries, just click on Select a variable to select the ones you previously
created. Finish this step by clicking on modify on the bottom-right of the second
panel. You should obtain something like this :
DB404680
To make sure everything went well, just check in the combination panel on the
bottom of the page that the three variable names are in the combination table column
titles.
Now you can interact with the last panel to add combination.
Combinations are here to represent the link between a combination of bits and a
timeslot. A timeslot can be represented by several combinations.
For example:
bb 0 0 0 -> Timeslot1
bb 0 0 1 -> Timeslot1
bb 0 1 0 -> Timeslot2
bb 0 1 1 -> Timeslot3
bb 1 0 0 -> Timeslot3.
As we see, you can make sure that every combination has an associated timeslot.
You can eventually add a period of validity for a combination by checking the
checkbox and choosing a date interval (hours if needed). It allows you to make sure
you match your need. For example, lets say that we want to create the combinations
from our previous example and that we want the combination 0 0 1 to represent the
timeslot 1 from January 1st to July and then the timeslot 2.
We create our combination by clicking on the Add a combination button.
Well validate all our combinations by clicking on the Create button.
We should obtain:
DB404681
As weve seen it, you can adapt your combinations to every situation you need.
Once you are done, you can run the configuration to begin metering.
Click on the second modify link on the right and you obtain the following edition
page.
Again, complete all the required data (which contains no asterisk) and submit them.
DB404684
You can now click on Start to begin the measures and you will be able to display the
current results by clicking on Display configuration. While a configuration is
running, you are not allowed to modify its parameters.
The following page illustrates an example of information you can access while
running a configuration based on calendar:

In addition to the existing users in Xflow (, configurator, etc.) a web profile for
Operator is available in order to use the load control module in a daily manner. To set
up the load-control profile, an administrator must create a user with administrator
privileges and choose load-control in the profile list as shown below.
DB404689
The new user can perform most of the tasks described in this document. However
limitations of this profile in regards to Configurator privileges about load control
management are listed below:
bb cannot create nor delete areas
bb can only modify temperature orders in a temperature area
bb can Create & modify the Reservation
bb is not allowed to create or modify a yearly program
bb is not allowed to create or modify a weekly program.

By default, iRIO has 4 digital outputs. After auto-detection of the RI0 16DIO card, you
have 4 variables for the 4 digital outputs (DO1, DO2, DO3 and DO4).
You can then add the variable linked to one of the iRIO logic outputs:
DB401121
You will obtain a box in the grid to select "on" or "off" control for the output selected
if the variable has associated units of measure named: /off/on (you have to create "/

Click on [add a variable] multiple to add the variables for the sensors connected to
4AI card.
Note: 4AI card support only 0-10 V input from sensors. For sensors with 4-20 mA use converter
(4-20 mA to 0-10 V) to connect to 4 AI card.
DB404641
The values displayed are in volts and should be converted to display in temperature.
Click on [add a variable] multiple to add the variables for the sensors connected to
SIM.
Note: SIM support only 0-10 V input from sensors. For sensors with 4-20 mA use converter
(4-20 mA to 0-10 V) to connect to SIM.
DB404645
The values displayed are in milli volt and should be converted to volt using change
of scale option available in convert this variable function.
Enter the name & select the peripheral as virtual and click on continue.
The below procedure explains the procedure to convert input of 4AI card to
temperature.
Eg: PT100 (0-10 V) with temperature rating of -20 to 150 Deg C is connected to AI1
of 4AI card.
To convert voltage to temperature use the formula Y=MX+C for creating variables for
Temperature sensors.
For PT100 with 0-10 V out put on X-axis & temperature rating -20 to 150 deg C
Y-axis.
bb M(Slope)=17.
bb C(Intercept)= -20.
bb Y= temperature.
bb X= AI Card input variable.
bb Y=17X-20 Y= temperature.
Click on finish to create the variable & click on unlock to enable the variable to read
the updated values.
Before leaving the customer site, some important points have to be checked to make
sure the application works properly.
In the Alarm web page, you can read the alarm status:

Note: if the alarm is locked, you have to unlock it if you want to enable it.
Redial waiting time There must be a waiting period before the recipient is
called again. The waiting time can be found in the
"Time" column.
Alarm sending The recipient could not be reached. The direction is
failure unavailable (blocked) for 1 hour. The waiting time
before the next sending attempt can be found in the
"Time" column.
Blacklisted The recipient is has been blacklisted. Calls can no
recipient longer be made in this direction. Manual re-enabling
is required by the user (by clicking on the recipient in
question and then on the "Re-validate this
recipient" button so that this direction becomes
operational again.
Name Names the variable with a tag. Define a clear name allowing the unambiguous identifying of the variable for the rest of the
configuration process.
Choose a short name (12 characters maximum), without spaces, punctuation marks or characters representing an
operator in the calculation formulae.
By default the name is in the form VAR000xx.
IMPORTANT: Each name must be unique. No other variable, alarm, weekly programme or yearly programme must have the
same name, on pain of generating errors in the calculation formulae. Indeed these formulae use the names in their syntax.
State Variable locked The interrogating of this variable has been blocked by the user.
Faulty variable Impossible to communicate with the variable.Check the wiring and the state of the
associated link.
Variable in alarm mode The variable has been allocated to an alarm, which has been triggered (crossing of
threshold or alarm state).
Configuration error An inconsistency has been detected in the configuration of the variable.
Unrefreshed The variable was not refreshed during the previous cycle.
This state may be permanent if the physical saturation of the system is reached (too
many variables with higher priority (i.e. acquisition periods that are too short in
relation to the total number of variables)): the problem is eliminated by only entering
an acquisition period if this is necessary; if it is not sufficient the periods must be
adjusted.
This state may only be temporary if the variable belongs to a "slow" peripheral.
Variable referenced in at least To view all the formulae referencing this variable, just click on the link associated
one formula with this pictogram.
Control by formula disabled Allows the variable to be changed to manual control; stopping of automatic control
to force a value or carry out operating tests.
Formula compilation error The formula is incorrect (syntax, incorrect reference, etc).
Formula execution error The formula is correct, but an error occurred during its execution
(illegal calculation, etc).
State "Straton" variable This variable is used by the Straton application during execution.
Description Provides an extended description. Use a specific phrase describing the nature and content of the variable. The description
must be understandable by all the systems operators (31 characters maximum).
Peripheral Indicates the peripheral on which the variable will be read and/or written. The list contains the peripherals configured in the
previous chapter.
Special peripherals:
bb the virtual peripheral:
the variable is not physically read from a peripheral. Instead its value is calculated via a calculation formula.
bb the system peripheral:
the value of the variable is provided through system data from the Xflow. This data is not physically read from a peripheral but
corresponds to information internal to the Xflow software (very rarely necessary).
