Navigation of Blind People Using Passenger Bus Alert System

This document describes a bus alert system that uses RFID to help blind passengers navigate public transportation. The system places RFID tags at bus stops and readers on buses. When a bus arrives at a stop, its reader detects the tag and announces details like the route and destination via a voice board to assist blind passengers. Display screens and audio announcements inside the bus also inform riders of approaching stops.

Navigation of Blind People Using Passenger Bus Alert System

This project implements RFID for a bus detection mechanism to help blind in
traveling from one place to another. In this system we develop a bus detection
prototype using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for blind. Each bus has and
RFID reader. And the bus boarding stops are provided with RFID tag. When a bus
come to the boarding station the system in the bus announces the bus details
automatically through voice board. Information on bus arrivals is displayed on
display in the bus. Display screens and audio announcements in buses give
information about the stop.

The RFID reader placed in the bus identifies the tag. The voice information
about the bus stops are stored in the voice board corresponding to each tag. So
when a tag is in range the recorded voice message is played.
