This document provides an overview of mesh current analysis for solving DC circuits. It discusses using Kirchhoff's voltage law (KVL) and the matrix method to set up and solve systems of equations for branch currents. It also covers analyzing circuits with current sources by excluding elements connected to the source to form a supermesh. Examples are provided on using mesh analysis to find branch currents in circuits with multiple meshes and current sources.

Mesh Current Analysis

Current flows from a higher potential to a lower potential in a

resistor.
For the circuit in Fig., nd the branch currents I1, I2 and I3 using mesh analysis.
Use mesh analysis to nd the current Io in the circuit of Fig.

Mesh Analysis with Current Sources

When a current source exists only in one mesh:

When a current source exists between two meshes
We create a supermesh by excluding the current source and any
elements connected in series with it,

A supermesh results when two meshes have a (dependent or

independent) current source in common.
Applying KVL to the supermesh in Fig. (b)
For the circuit in Fig., nd i1 to i4 using mesh analysis.
