SYLLABUS

COURSE NO.: OJT


COURSE TITLE: On-the-Job Training
CREDIT: 4 units
MIN. NO. OF HOURS REQUIRED: 240
PREREQUISITE: 4th year standing

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
In response to the demands of the industry for globally competitive Engineering
graduates as to knowledge, skills, attitudes and values, the OJT aims to:

1. Give the student exposure to the actual technical and managerial aspects in
the Engineering profession;

2. Enable the student to gain experience, relate and apply the theories learned
in school to real industrial situation and problems;

3. Develop and instill a positive attitude, self-confidence and self-motivation


required of a responsible professional in handling tasks;

4. Impress on the student the importance of human relations in the working


place or environment;
5. Promote the stronger industry-academe linkage between the USTsP and the
neighboring industrial companies.

GENERAL PROCEDURE:

1. The OJT Coordinator writes a recommendation/endorsement letter to the


company listing the name/s of the student trainee/s signed by the Dean of
CEA.

2. The student may follow up his application.

3. The company returns the reply form or a proof of acceptance to the OJT
Coordinator by mail or the student may hand-carry the form.

4. The student submits a waiver form to the company, signed by the parent/s or
guardian/s and the OJT Coordinator.

5. The student starts at the recommended date.

Duties and Responsibilities of the student trainee:


1. The student is required to make a progress report, on a day-to-day basis.
Each task should be signed by his/her supervisor.

2. The student should at all times keep all documents pertaining to his OJT.

3. The student must comply with the general guidelines of the company
regarding their own OJT program.

4. Upon completion the student is required to obtain from the company several
documents for the written report.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Host Company:

1. Through the immediate supervisor or through the human resource


department of the company concern, the company ensures that the OJT
student undergoes work technical in nature and related to their chosen
courses of study.

2. Ensures a safe working environment for students undergoing OJT.

3. Assigns an immediate supervisor who will monitor the performance of the


student during the duration of the training.

4. Upon completion of the required number of training hours, the company


gives a certificate of completion to the student trainee.

5. The student trainees supervisor signs the OJT Progress Report and fills up
and signs the OJT Performance Evaluation Form. He submits these forms to
the OJT Coordinator through the student.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. All 4th year standing engineering students (incoming fifth year for next school
year) are required to undergo OJT during summer of the current school year.

2. The minimum required number of hours of training is 240.


3. A student/trainee is required to submit a written report at the end of his
training.

D.4 Training Program (Companys letterhead)
D.5 Certificate of Completion
(Total no. of hours of training must be indicated with Companys letterhead )

D.6 Performance Evaluation Sheet


D.7 Progress Report
D.8 Students report regarding the whole experience of OJT.
D.9 Manuals/Handouts related to training
