Deputy Manager (Chemical)/ Chemical Engineer

Department: Production Grade: II-B/II-C

Requirement

Education Full Time B.E./B.Tech (Chemical) from recognized University.


Qualification
Experience Minimum 3 years relevant post qualification experience

Age Not more than 30 years as on 09/08/2017

Age and experience may be relaxed for exceptionally good candidates

I. Overall Objective

Plan & co-ordinate day-to-day operational activities of plant and maintain quality and quantity of
production in compliance with safety and environment norms.

II. Roles & Responsibilities

a) Operation

Take charge of the plant, review the reports and assess the plant condition;
Strict adherence to the defined SOPs;
Take corrective actions for any abnormality/deviation to ensure quality and production;
Review of lab analysis and initiate corrective actions;
Take field round, observe abnormalities & instruct corrective actions;
Plan the job according to the condition of plant & concerned plants;
Initiate, coordinate and monitor jobs with services;
Maintain raw-material/utility/power norms;
Attend to emergency/ shut down and breakdowns;
Execute periodical preventive activities in time;
Initiate prompt action in case of emergency and guide team to take necessary action.

b) Communication and coordination:

Communicate and coordinate (verbal/written) with various plants/services/inter-plant


personnel in normal as well as emergency/break down conditions;
Report status of plant and appraise about corrective action taken to higher authorities in a
timely manner;
Issue work orders and permits;
Draft report of shift activities;

Liaise with internal suppliers for timely availability of raw materials.

c) Statutory Requirements

Generate, maintain, and update proper documents and records to comply with statutory
requirements;
Generate, maintain and update IMS records of all relevant documents;
Assist during internal/external audits;
Should have knowledge of statutory laws and obligations.

d) Safety and Environment Care

Maintain plant safety by following safe practices;


Monitor and control pollutants (quality/quantity) & take corrective actions;
Ensure that team adheres to guidelines for use of PPEs;
Assess job risk and continuously monitor plant conditions till job completion;
Observe rules and regulations of Safety Dept. for any job;
Report near miss accidents / unsafe conditions.

e) Housekeeping

Maintain plant general conditions;


Ensure and oversee cleaning of work area and disposal of scrap and debris.

f) People Management

Organize manpower for shift operation;


Learn / accept new working techniques;
Impart functional training to subordinates;
Share knowledge and keep self/subordinates updated regarding latest technical
developments;
Resolve conflicts amicably within and outside the team.

g) Improvement and Innovations

Provide suggestion for improvement in process efficiency (eg. Reduction in specific


consumption);
Show cost consciousness;
Learn and accept new working techniques;
Monitor/control various activities during execution of job/shutdown/break down;
Accommodate additional work for improving plant operation;
Ensure implementation of corporate initiatives.

III. Key Performance Indicators

No. of breakdowns;
No. of instances of deviation to Quality norms;
No. of instances of plant tripping/disturbances due to operational faults;
No. of instances of loss in production due to non-adherence to schedule for execution of
critical jobs;
Reduction in number of incidents and environment & safety violations year on year;
Reduction in number of non compliance reported by respective monitoring agency;
Reduction in number of housekeeping violations recorded as part of housekeeping audit;
No. of near miss accidents reported;
Number of implementable suggestions.

IV. Required Skills

V. Location

Within Gujarat in any unit of the company

VI. Working Environment

Plant based role involves working in shifts;

Shall commensurate with skills, experience and market trends.


VIII. Additional Information

The recruit shall be required to execute Service Agreement of Rs. 1,00,000/- to serve the
Company for a period of 3 years.
