OBJECTIVES
TASKS
1. Connect the network cable to PC-1 and then PC-2 on the other end.
2. Open Control Panel. Click Start > Control Panel.
3. Click View Network Status and Task under Network and Internet Category.
4. Click Change adapter settings on the left pane of the window.
5. Right click Local Area Connection and select Properties.
6. In the Network Tab, locate and select Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4) then
click the button Properties.
7. In the properties window, select or tick the button Use the following IP address:.
8. Enter the following details:
a. IP Address: 192.168.100.1
b. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
c. Default Gateway : (N/A)
d. Preferred DNS Server : (N/A)
9. Click OK and close everything.
10. Check your network configuration. Click Start > Run.
(You can simply open Run utility by pressing Win Key + R at the same time in the
keyboard).
11. Type cmd and hit Enter key.
12. Once cmd is ready, type ipconfig and hit enter. You should see the results.
13. Look under Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: , you should see the IP
address and subnet mask you entered in Step 8. If you get a different result, check
your network details as stated in Step 8.
14. Perform the above steps to PC-2. Make sure that you will not use the same host id in
PC-1.
15. Check network connection using ping command.
