Courage for future energy segment

Indias present energy system is dealing with a number of problems including erratic and very
unstable crude prices and the resulting fiscal challenges, and the damaging ecological balance.
Though, what remains a fact, is that in case the energy trend of the last few decade continues
linearly, climate change will have a severe volatile and devastating impact on our lives. The
import dependency is bound to rise, and crude will become scarcer and confined in a few
countries around the world. An innovation is required to tackle the issue. As a matter of fact,
the solution to energy challenges is not beyond our control. The key lies in our hands by
switching from fossil fuel, greenhouse gas sources of energy to renewable sources of energy.

Developing countries like India have great potential to speed up the utilization of its endowed
renewable resources to power its growing economy with a secure and reasonable energy
supply. India is in phase, where its economy is experiencing tremendous growth over the past
several years. Energy, in any form, can strengthen past, present and future growth therefore for
Indian economy to continue the growth route, it is needed to address its energy challenges,
which cross all sectors and impact all citizens. With the support of natural resources, the
harnessing of renewable energy can be a general practice in India mainly because:

a) Renewable energy proposes a get around against fossil fuel cost escalation and volatility,
b) renewable energy provides a cushion against energy security problems,
c) off-grid renewable power can meet demand in far-off rural areas,
d) renewable energy can support realization of climate change goals, if any, and
e) renewable energy can be supplied to both urban and rural poor.

Biogas can cater to small to big-scale sites, making it a viable option for regions in India. Human
energy in form of organic fertilizer is associated with Biogas plant and it is the right time to
promote it together. The challenge ahead of us is big, but we have no choice if we want to act
responsibly. There is enough in the world for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's
greed.
