Why do you want to work at Rogers?
I am looking for a new challenge which will broaden my experience as well as allow me to leverage my MBA. I
believe this change of industry is really going to do that for me. I hope it will use my existing skill set, draw from
my strengths and yet offer the chance to build new working relations and get to learn the ins and outs of another
business.
How different companies and brands are continuing to adapt to technology and are a whole lot more transparent.
For example, Twitter can be viewed as a public forum for companies, where praises and complaints are
addressed. It also allows them to understand the needs of their customers. Insights from digital also excites me.
Insights from data and the content can help create action plans and solutions.
Fav Movie this year: Unbroken Fav Movie: The Notebook and Shawshank Redemption
STAR:
Situation: Marketer was going on vacation and left tactic input until last day and she was having issues connecting
to internal network.
Task: Uploading 50 tactics into the system manually.
Action: Although it was my last day as well before vacation, I had to log on during vacay time to upload tactics as
campaign was going live the first day back (Jan 5)
Resolution: One option is that we have a resource, however they were closed. Resolution for bulk upload of
tactics, marketer should reach out to CMP to discuss options
Situation: Client approved for loan, however was missing documents (2nd paystub for new job) according to new
policy. New assistant manager, not aware of rules of branch since he was transferred from call centre where the
loans go straight to the underwriter and sourced to nearest branch. Branch employees must follow policy and
gather documents.
Task: To ensure we have all documents before closing the loan to avoid failing audit
Action: Went thru policy handbook and pulled requirements for loans sourced within branch. Provided proof to
new Assistant Manager
Resolution: Started hosting lunch and learns on policy, selling techniques, cash handling in the branch to ensure
that all employees are knowledgeable about branch procedures
Lead and manage all customer facing online marketing communications, including campaigns and product
launches for hardware from plan to execution, to post launch analysis and optimization
THINK: What type of campaigns have you managed end to end? What opportunities/threats do you see with the
enterprise audience? (IE Opportunity - Not all organizations are up to date with the technology, campaigns need
to be targeted to the industry or vertical. Threat - Budgets are shrinking - employees are being asked to do more
with less so how do we position x services in a way that will help employees be more efficient/effective). What
types of KPI's or metrics do you consider in the post launch analysis? (IE lead conversion - or even tie in each of
their "ACCOUNTABLE TARGETS" in the JD to what you know and do - I think this one will be important... who else
writes targets in their JD)
Collaborate with content and SEM/SEO teams on maintaining search elements of the site, off-page
optimization, lead generation and strategies to increase organic and paid traffic.
THINK: What trends do you see in SEO? Maybe ask them if they've done a SWOT analysis of their web properties.
If they haven't - that's an opportunity for you to say what could be done. We don't need to put all the
investments in paid digital - maybe we should re-evaluate Organic first before we look at paid opportunities? (See
shared doc - it's from one of the courses I took). Another area to explore is competitive SEM - so you compete
directly with your competitors who are going for the same audiences. I also think that you should think of the
keywords your auidence would be looking at and see what comes up (ie. "rogers business solutions", "rogers
enterprise solutions")
