    This action research plan seeks to determine the most effective classroom instructional strategies for at-risk learners. Over the course of several months, the plan involves gathering data through student and teacher interviews, surveys, and classroom observations. Data will also be collected on student behavior referrals. Once all data is analyzed, a report will be created identifying the most effective strategies and resulting areas for future research. Findings will then be shared and implemented into classroom practices as needed. The goal is to keep at-risk students engaged and in the classroom.

    Wonderings: What correlation exists between instructional strategies and


    student engagement in WCA (Williamson County Academy) at-risk* classroom
    settings? Are there instructional strategies that result more often in students
    being removed from the classroom for behavior problems? What strategies are
    most effective for keeping students engaged and in class**?

    *At-Risk: students who have been removed from their home campus for behavior reasons
    **at WCA students who are not choosing appropriate classroom behaviors are removed from the
    classroom.
