Demo LHMI EXERCISES

Setting exercises for REF615 by using the


local HMI
Use the navigation push buttons (up, down, left, right) to navigate in the menu
structure. To change a setting, press the Enter button.

Change the following parameters

Check that the date and time in the relay are correct. You should find the
setting via the following menu: Configuration - Time - System time
If time or date is wrong, you should give the correct values.

Change the short circuit protection 3I>>> settings (setting group 1). You
should find the setting via the following menu:
Settings - Settings - Edit Group 1 - Current protection - 3I>>>(1)

Operation: On
Num of start phases: 2 out of 3
Start value: 1.55 x In
Operate delay time: 50 ms

Change the circuit breaker control settings. You should find the settings via
the following menu:
Configuration - Control - I <--> 0 CB

Select timeout: 10 000 ms


Pulse length: 150 ms

Change the current measurement settings. You should find the settings via
the following menu:
Configuration - Measurements - 3I

Measurement mode: RMS


Demand interval: 15 min

Change the settings of the trip logic. You should find the settings via the
following menu:
Configuration - Trip logic - Master Trip(1)

Trip pulse time: 160 ms


Trip output mode: Non-latched

Set the threshold voltage for the binary inputs.

Threshold voltage: 18V

Return to main menu. Commit the settings when the relay asks.

Inject current to the relay by using the simulator. Verify the operation of the
start and trip leds and indications on the display. Use Clear button to clear the
Indications, LEDs and Alarm LEDs after each trip. Read also the fault records.

Tip: Clear button can be used as a shortcut for clearing. The first three-second
press clears the indications. The second three-second press clears the
alarm LEDs.

Open and close the circuit breaker by using the local HMI:

At first set the Local / Remote button to Local mode (L). The interlocking rules
in REF615 are programmable. In the demo relay the interlocking are
programmed as follows:

Open the CB: Always possible


Close the CB: Earth-switch has to in open position

Try to open and close the circuit breaker by using Open (0) and Close (I)
buttons in the relay HMI. Try also close the circuit breaker when the earth-
switch is closed. First you have to close earth-switch by using simulator.

Arc protection simulation

Change the arc protection settings as follows:

Settings - Settings - Edit Group 1 Other protection ARC(1)

Operation: On
Phase start value: 0.50 x In
Ground start value: 0.25 x In
Operation mode: Light + current

Simulate an arc fault as follows:


1) Open the CB
2) Set phase current (or Io) to maximum
3) Press and hold ARC button
4) Close CB

Note! You can simulate the light only mode by simply pressing ARC button. In
that case, change the operation mode to Light only.

Web HMI exercises for REF615


1. Read the IP address of the relay

Read the IP address (rear port) of the relay. You can check the IP address for
the rear port via relay menu
Main menu / Configuration / Communication / Ethernet / Rear port(s)
Default IP is 192.168.2.10

Check that Web HMI is active.


Main menu / Configuration / HMI / Web HMI mode
- set mode to "Active"

Set Web HMI timeout to 60 min.


Main menu / Configuration / HMI / Web HMI timeout

Return to main menu. Commit the settings when the relay asks.

If you changed the Web HMI mode, it comes valid only when you restart the
relay. The restart can be done in:

Main menu / Configuration / General / Software reset

2. Set TCP/IP properties in PC and open Internet Explorer 7.0 browser

Use the following TCP/IP settings in PC when using rear port: Use the
following IP address.

Note: In the IP address the first three numbers must be the same as the IP
address in the relay. The last number must be different!

Start the internet browser and write the IP address of the relay to the address
field. Login as ADMINISTRATOR.

3. Start using WHMI

The following command buttons are available in WHMI.

In this demo use the WHMI to

- Change protection settings


- View alarm leds
- View and clear Events
- View Phasor diagrams (Adobe SVG Viewer need to be installed to PC)
- Clear Indications and Alarm LEDs
- Read disturbance recorder files
- Save the both files in the same folder on your computer, and open the
disturbance recorder files with a suitable program (e.g. Wavewin).
- Note. You must trig the disturbance recorder first. You can also
manually trig the disturbance recorder via WHMI.

Setting Exercise for REF615 with PCM600


This exercise shows the basic steps for getting started with PCM600.

Start PCM600. Select File - New Project. Fill in the project name and
description. Click Create.

Drag and drop the objects Substation, Voltage level and Bay to Plant
Structure. You can also rename the objects by using mouse right click. If you
do not see the Object Types in PCM600, select View - Object Types.

Drag and drop REF615 under a Bay. Select "Online configuration" and click
next.

IED protocol shall be IEC 61850 and communication provider PCM600. Click
Next.

Select "Rear port (X1/LAN)". Check the rear port IP address of the relay and
write it to IP address field.

Click scan to read the order code and functions from the relay.

Now it is possible to use different tools within PCM600. Right click the relay in
the tree and select the tool you want to use.

You should first select "Read from IED..." to read all data from the relay
(configuration and parameter settings). Note that reading takes some minutes.
Without "Read from IED...", you will have the default settings and
configuration in PCM600 project (i.e. online configuration does not read the
setting parameters and Signal Matrix Tool connections).

Use Parameter setting tool for changing and viewing the relay settings. Use
"Read" button for reading the parameters. When you change some
parameters, use "Write" button to send the parameters to the relay. You
can (for example) change some protection function setting parameters.

Disturbance recorder exercise for REF615


First check that the disturbance recorder operation is on. Other general
parameters you can set as follows by using Parameter Setting tool. You can
find the disturbance recorder general configuration settings from menu
Configuration - Disturbance recorder.

Note. If you do not see all the parameters as in the picture below, select View
- Parameter layer - Advanced Parameters.

Then set the analog channels for example as follows. If you have a relay
without voltage inputs, you can skip the settings of voltage analog channels
(or check that operation is off)

The disturbance recorder has 64 digital inputs, of which 35 are connected as


default in standard configuration F. All connected signals can be used either
to trigger the disturbance recorder or to be recorded by the disturbance
recorder depending on the parameter settings.

The next picture shows how some of the signals in the disturbance recorder
are connected. All the default connections in different standard configurations
are listed in the Application manual. The default connections can be changed
(if needed) in Signal Matrix Tool.

Check that at least some of the digital channels will trigger the disturbance
recorder (for example ovecurrent protection trip signal).

When the parameter settings are ready, write parameters to IED.

Use the simulator to trip the relay from for example overcurrent.

* Open Disturbance Handling tool.

* Click "Get IED Recordings information" button

* Select the recording(s) from the "Available Recordings in IED" window

and click "Read Selected Recordings in IED" button

* The click "Refresh" and the recording(s) should appear in the upper
window called "Recordings".

* Select one recording and right click with mouse

* Select "Open with" and click OK button.

* Now you can use WAVEWIN program to analyze the disturbance recorder
file. WAVEWIN is delivered with PCM600.

It is also possible to create a report about the disturbance recorder file. Select
one recording and right click with mouse. Select "Create Report".

Select "default" as a template and click OK.

Extra exercise: Signal Matrix Tool


Select the relay from the tree and right click with mouse. Open Signal Matrix
tool.

As a first exercise, change the functionality of the alarm LEDs. By default the
LEDs are connected as follows (in F std. conf).

Use Signal Matrix Tool to change the functionality of the LED 10 and 11.
Program the LED 10 to be "Circuit breaker open position" and LED 11 to be
"Circuit Breaker closed position". LEDs are available in "Binary Outputs"
page.

When you have done the LED programming, close the SMT tool, save and
select "Write to IED".

Test by using simulator that the LEDs work now as specified in this exercise.
Note that you can set the operation mode for the LEDs in Parameter Setting
tool. For LEDs that are activated by operate signals, the suitable mode is
normally latched. For LEDs that are activated by open or closed positions, the
suitable mode is follow. The LED parameters can be found from IED
Configuration - LEDS.

As the second exercise, connect binary input X120 - input 1 (input 1 in


simulator) to change between setting group one and setting group two i.e.
connect X120 - input 1 to "Protection: 0 ActSG" in SMT. This can be done in
Binary Inputs page.

By default, X120 input 1 is used for blocking the over current instantaneous
stage (PHIPTOC1, I>>>). Remove that default connection.

When you are ready with the connections, close the SMT tool, save and
select "Write to IED".

Note that you have to change also the setting parameter Configuration -
System - SG follow input to "True".

Test by using the simulator (activate and de-activate input 1). You can monitor
the active setting group from the relay menu Settings - Setting group. When
the input 1 is active, the setting group in use should be 2. When the input 1 is
not active, the setting group in use should be one.
