Analogue To Digital Conversion:-: Procedure For ADC

The document discusses analogue to digital conversion (ADC). ADC involves sampling the analogue signal at a rate that satisfies the Nyquist criteria of twice the maximum frequency. If the sampling rate is too low, aliasing can occur where high frequency signal components are misinterpreted as lower frequencies. Anti-aliasing techniques are used to avoid aliasing. ADC also involves quantizing the sampled signal levels and coding the quantized levels into binary form, with the number of quantization levels determined by the number of bits used.

Analogue to digital conversion:-

Procedure for ADC:

Sampling theorem, aliasing and anti-aliasing:-

Sampling theorem: - while converting the signal from analogue to digital or vice
versa the frequency of the sample is at least twice that of highest frequency in the
analogue signal that the sample gives the original form of signal . this is known as
Shannons sampling theorem or Nyquist criteria. Fs >2fmax

Aliasing: - Fs < 2fmax

Anti Aliasing:-
Quantization and coding:-

Analogue to digital conversion (ADC): Process of transforming sampled

analogue data into digital form. It consists of two steps

1. Quntizing

2. Coding

Stair case signal:-

No of steps = 2n

If n= 3 there fore 2n = 8

Quantizing step voltage = 10 V/ 8= 1.25V
