Development of Malaysian Standards

The number of Malaysian Standards developed each year has generally increased from 2416 in 1996 to 6305 in 2015. Mandatory standards were first introduced in 2004 with 123 standards and have also increased each year to 440 standards in 2015. Alignments of Malaysian Standards to international standards has also risen over time, reaching 3622 cumulative alignments in 2015. Participating membership in international standards organizations ISO and IEC has grown as well, with 158 organizations participating in ISO and 75 in IEC by 2015.
