Echnical Information: SUBJECT: Lubrication

This technical document provides lubrication instructions for three gears in Riso printing machines. It recommends applying plenty of mechanical grease to the teeth of the Drum Main Gear, Intermediate Gear, and Main Gear during preventative maintenance or regular service calls. Lack of lubrication on these gears can cause teeth to crack, chip, or wear out and cause the spring pin holding the Main Gear to become loose.

SUBJECT: Lubrication
Brief:
During the preventive maintenance, or on regular service calls, if Drum Main Gear, Intermediate Gear, and
Main Gear (on main motor) are found without sufficient grease on them, it is recommended that plenty of
mechanical grease is applied on the teeth of these three gears.

Reason:
Lack of lubrication (grease) on these gears causes following two problems.
1. Teeth on any one of these three gears crack, chip, or wear out.
2. Spring Pin holding the Main Gear onto the shaft of the Main Motor becomes loose due to enlargement
of the hole for the spring pin on the Main Gear. [Ref: Our CR Series Technical Bulletin issue
