Purpose
This provides information on installing Windows XP Professional on a JS-950WS.

Preparation
The following equipment is needed to install Windows XP Professional:
(1) JS-950WS
(2) Bootable installation CD-ROM of Windows XP Professional SP2
(3) USB keyboard
(4) External USB CD-ROM drive
(5) USB mouse. This is optional, but is a useful tool
(6) Microphone and speakers. Optional
(7) Device Drivers
F Video Driver
F Chipset Driver
F Touch Panel Driver
F LAN Driver
F Audio Driver

Basic Flow
The basic flow is as follows:
(1) Install XP Professional from CD-ROM
(2) Install Device Drivers

The following drivers are installed manually after installation of Windows XP Pro. SP2.

F Video Driver

F Touch Panel Driver
F LAN Driver
F Audio Driver

Operation

Hardware Setup
Connect external CD-ROM drive and USB keyboard to the JS-950WS. Insert bootable installation CD
into external CD/DVD-ROM drive.

Boot from CD/DVD-ROM


Turn on JS-950WS and press [F11] when the following screen appears.

Using the [Down Arrow] key select the USB CD/DVD-ROM option and press [Enter].

Install XP Professional from CD-DVD-ROM

Command Line Screen


The following screen will appear, select the appropriate option.

Select Region and Language


In following screen the region and language. If you do not have a mouse, make selections using
the [TAB] and [Enter] keys.

Select Time Zone


In following screen set Date and Time. If you do not have a mouse, make selections using [TAB],
[Enter] or [ALT] + [Arrow] keys. Press [TAB] key to focus.

Press [ALT] + [Up Arrow] keys to make selection.

Networking Settings
Select Typical Settings option.

Video Settings
The following pop up will appear. Press [ALT] + [TAB] to focus pop up window.

Once focus is set press [Enter].

Install Drivers
Note: This document assumes that the device drivers are copied into C:\Install\DeviceDrivers.

Install Video Driver

Run win2k_xp1427.exe

Once Installation has Completed is displayed, press [Next] to proceed.

Note: Display may flicker.

End of Installation for Video Driver


Press [Finish] to complete installation. JS-950WS will reboot.

Setting for Display Properties


To set Display settings press [Start] ---> [Control Panel] ---> [Appearance and Themes] --->
[Display]. Select [Settings] Tab

Refer to your hardwares specification as below listed below and configure accordingly.
o JS-950D2R010 (12 LCD with resistive TP): supports 800 x 600.
o JS-950D2C010 (12 LCD with capacitive TP): supports 800 x 600.
o JS-950D5R010 (15 LCD with resistive TP): supports 800 x 600 & 1024 x 768.
o JS-950D5C010 (15 LCD with capacitive TP): supports 800 x 600 & 1024 x 768.

Run Setup.exe

Read License Agreement, press [Yes] accept.

Warning Pop Up 5 Times


The below Hardware Installation window will appear, select [Continue Anyway] by pressing
[Arrow] Key. This pop up will appear 5 times, select [Continue Anyway] each time.

Note: Default focus is on [Stop Installation], be sure to select [Continue Anyway].

Installation is complete. Press [Finish] to complete installation. JS-950WS will reboot.

Install Touch Panel Driver

Run Setup.exe

Interface Type
Press [Next] in the following screen. Do not check Install PS/2 interface driver.

Calibration at Boot up
Press [Next] in the following screen. Keep None option selected.

Press [OK] in the following screen.

Multi-Monitor
Press [Next] in the following screen. If you setup the JS-950SD (2nd Display module 8.4
resistive TP), please check Support Multi-Monitor System. If you do not use JS-950SD, do not
check.

Destination Folder
Press [Next] in the following screen.

Program Folder
Press [Next] in the following screen.

Information Pop Up
Press [Yes] in the following screen.

Press [No] in the following screen.

Touch Panel Calibration

Configure Utility
Press the TouchKit icon on the Desktop. The Serial Controller Window will appear, select the
Tools tab.

4 Points Calibration
Press [4 Points Calibration].

CAUTION:
Do not press any button other than [4 Points Calibration] or [Draw Test]; touch panel may not work
properly if other buttons are selected.

Press each of the four X marks that are displayed on sceen.

Press OK
Press [OK] in the following screen.

Press [Draw Test]


Press [Draw Test] in the following screen.

CAUTION:
Do not press any button other than [4 Points Calibration] or [Draw Test]; touch panel may not work
properly if other buttons are selected.

Draw Test
Using your finger touch and draw on the touch panel and confirm the line is drawn accordingly.
Press [Quit] was confirmed line is accurate.

Checking Audio Drivers


Once JS-950WS reboots, verify that the Audio Drivers and Devices work properly.

Plug-in Audio Devices


Plug the Audio Devices (a microphone and a speaker) into each jack.

Play Sounds
Press [Start] ---> [Control Panel] ---> [Sounds, Speed, and Audio Devices] ---> [Sounds and Audio
Devices], and then select [Sounds] Tab.
Select Start Windows and press the PLAY button displayed as the triangle mark in the following
screen. Confirm you can hear sound coming from speakers.

Recording and Playback


Select [Voice] Tab, and press [Test hardware]

Press [Next] to proceed.

Windows Security Alert


The Windows Security Alert window will appear twice, press [Unblock] each time.

Microphone Test Screen


Read and follow the instructions in the following screen, press [Next] to proceed.

Speaker Test Screen


Read and follow the instructions in the following screen. Confirm you can hear the sound you just
recorded. Press [Next] to proceed.

Complete Audio Drivers Test


Press [Finish] to complete the test of Audio Drivers.
