Activity 2-Distance Measuring by Pacing
Activity 2-Distance Measuring by Pacing
Exercise No.2
I. OBJECTIVES
To determine the measurement of the three Buildings in Camarines Sur Polytechnic
College (Duran Hall, Academic Building and Administration Building) by using pace
factor.
II. PROCEDURE
Select a point on the ground and mark it as point A. Place a range pole (if it has)/mark on
it.
Mark the end point of the building as point B.
For Correction;
Measure the length of the buildings from point A to endpoint B.
All members of the group should walk from A to B on the left side of the buildings and
should walk on the right side of the buildings from B to A. Hence, the group moves in a
clockwise direction walking back and forth. This is to avoid walking onto the others path
that would great affect ones pace factor estimate.
No two or more members should walk side by side or simultaneously, since ones pace
factor would be influenced by the other thereby not getting a good estimate of ones pace
factor.
Dont shout out loud when counting number of paces. This might affect the counting of the
other group members in your vicinity.
Repeat the trials at least 5 repetition and count the number of steps/paces.
Get the paced distance by using pace factor and number of paces.
Calculate the preciseness of your activity by using paced and taped distance.

VII. OBSERVATION
VIII. CONCLUSION
To pace a distance it is necessary to first determine the length of ones pace. And
according to my preceding activity, the length of my ones pace is 0.926m/pace, which is
referring to pace factor. The distance of route can determine by using pace factor and
number of paces done. Obviously, committing errors are common in the activity.
