Akash RPF

The document describes the block diagram and technical specifications of a radar proximity fuse (RPF) system. The RPF system uses a DRO source at Ku-band frequency which is divided and used for both transmission and reception. In transmission, the signal is modulated with a PN code and amplified before being transmitted from two antennas. In reception, the reflected signal is received, demodulated, amplified and processed using DSP to detect targets. Key specifications include a target range of 2-45 meters and minimum receiver sensitivity of -90dBm to produce a firing pulse.

2. DESCRIPTION OF RPF SYSTEM:

A DRO based source generates a power at KU-Band

frequency. The output is fed to an Amplifier and followed by a power divider.
One output of the power divider is fed to the De-Modulator (as LO signal) in
the receiver chain. The second output from the power divider is fed to
isolator and a Modulator in the Transmitter chain. This CW signal is
modulated with a 31-bit length Pseudo -random Noise (P-N) code. The
output of the modulator is fed to the driver amplifier and the output of driver
amplifier is divided in two channels through a 2-way power divider. This
signal is finally amplified to the required power level using power amplifiers in
each channel. The output from the power amplifiers are taken away through
isolators. The signal outputs are connected to two transmitting antennae
through low loss cables. A control signal K8 from ground control enables the
transmitter during flight.

The illuminated target reflects the RF Power

incident on it . The reflected power which carries Doppler frequency
information depending on the target velocity and signal interception is
received by receiving antennae. The output from antenna is fed to the
Receiver module through an external LNA. In the Receiver module, the signal
is demodulated after amplification and then amplified with a video and AGC
amplifier.

The output of the video amplifier is given to a Digital

Signal Processing sub-system, which has the capability of recognizing the
target signal in the presence of a high amplitude clutter domain The DSP
consists of correlators, band pass filters (Doppler 10KHz 120KHz), delay
circuits and FFT and CFAR algorithms.

The power supply module supplies the various DC voltages to drive the RF &
Digital section
