Suspect hypocalcemia
Symptoms: muscle cramping, tetany, tingling

ORDER
Calcium, Serum or Plasma
Also order:
Phosphorus, Inorganic, Plasma or Serum
Albumin, Serum by Spectrophotometry
Magnesium, Plasma or Serum
Creatinine, Serum or Plasma

LOW CORRECTED CALCIUM


Corrected calcium = measured
total calcium +0.8 (4.0 - serum
albumin)
