Structural Equation Modeling - Statwiki

Structural equation modeling (SEM) is a powerful statistical analysis technique that is useful for testing hypotheses about relationships between observed and latent variables. It allows for the modeling of interactions, nonlinear relationships, measurement error, and correlated variables and errors. SEM can be used as an alternative or extension to multiple regression, path analysis, factor analysis, and other general linear model techniques. Hypotheses in SEM should specify the expected direction and type of relationships between variables, such as whether a relationship is direct, mediated, moderated, or a multi-group effect. Control variables should also be included to account for potentially confounding influences.
