Task 1:
OPERATING SYSTEM

The operating system is used for operate a computer


system. Computer can perform basic task through operating system such as taking input from the
keyboard and process it and then show output to the display screen it makes sure that different
programs and users running at the same time do not interfere with each other.

Types of operating system:

There are different types of operating system which are as follows.

batch processing operating system


real time operating system
single user operating system
multitasking operating system
multi user operating system
distributed operating system

Operating systems have several different types as following.

Batch processing operating system

Data and programs that need to be processed are collected as a batch and
executed together. Large amounts of data to be processed in this system the system is
capable of identifying times when the processor is idle at which time batches maybe
processed. Processing is all performed automatically without any user intervention.

Real-time operating system

A real-time operating system processes inputs in same time. It is fast enough to


process the next input. It is used to control complex systems for the purpose of
processing like machinery and industrial systems.

Single user operating system

It is designed for one user to effectively use a computer at a time.

Multi-tasking operating system

This type of operating system is commonly used type of os; the windows
operating system would be an example.

This type of operating system allows multiple users to simultaneously use the system while here
as well, the processor splits its resources and handles one user at a time

Distributed operating system


In this type of computer system data maybe distributed within the system,
programs and files maybe stored on different storage devices which are located within
different areas.
