Date: Experiment No.:4: Sri. Y.SAGAR, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, AITAM

The document describes an experiment in CATIA V5 to draw a 3D model from given dimensions. It involves using sketching and pad tools to create the profile view, apply dimensions, and extrude it to the specified thickness. A hole is then added to the side face. The procedure is successfully followed to generate the constrained 3D model as intended. Precautions are taken to ensure the sketch is fully constrained without over-constraining.

EXPERIMENT NO.:4

Aim:
To draw the given 3-D model using part module with the given dimensions as shown in
fig.
Software used:
CATIA V5 R21.
Tools & machinery required:
Profile tools, Operation tools, Constrained tools, Sketch base features tools.
Procedure:
1. Open CATIA work bench by double click on CATIA short cut icon on desktop.
2. Go to start on left top of CATIA window > Mechanical design > sketcher > select any one
of the plane namely, front (YZ) > then click on sketch tool icon.
3. Draw the front view of profile that, similar to that of given model from the origin point.
4. By using constrained tool bar icon give the dimensions to the drawn profile and make it
constrained successfully to turn into green color.
5. Now click on exit work bench icon. To enter into part module from the sketcher.
6. Now click on PAD tool in sketch base features and give thickness of 66 mm. and hit OK
button.
7. Now create a hole on the side face with a diameter of 34 mm and also give dimensions
from the edges of the face. > click on PREVIEW > click on OK button.
8. Hence the required 3-D model is obtained in part module.
Precautions:
1. The diagram produced must be completely constrained (i.e. it should be in green color).
2. Model should not be over constrained (i.e. it should not turn into pink or red color).
Result:
The given model is successfully produced and constrained as shown in fig. in Sketcher
module using CATIA software.
