Migrate OBIEE 11g to OBIEE 12C

Upgrade existing OBIEE 11g to OBIEE 12c. You have to be on OBIEE 11.1.1.7 or later to be able to
successfully do the migration. If you are on an earlier release of OBIEE, first migrate to 11.1.1.7 and
follow this video to migrate to OBIEE 12c.

Here are the steps:


1) Exporting OBIEE 11g catalog & RPD

copy [ORACLE_HOME]\bi\migration-tool\jlib\bi-migration-tool.jar to your OBIEE 11g system say to


c:\migration

run the following command on your OBIEE 11g system


java -jar bi-migration-tool.jar out [BI11g Home] [BI11g Domain] [output file]

ex. java -jar c:\migration\bi-migration-tool.jar out c:\oracle\obi\Oracle_BI


c:\oracle\obi\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain c:\migration\BI11g.jar

Copy the exported file back to your OBIEE 12c server

2) Importing OBIEE 11g catalog & RPD into 12c

run the following command on your OBIEE 12c system


java -jar bi-migration-tool.jar in [BI12c Home] [BI12c Domain] [exported file] [service instance name]

ex. java -jar c:\oracle\middleware\bi\migration-tool\jlib\bi-migration-tool.jar in c:\oracle\Middleware\


c:\oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\bi c:\migration\BI11g.jar ssi
