Information Processing System Computer Inputs Data Hardware: Input Device

Input and output devices allow communication between a computer and the outside world. Input devices such as keyboards, pointing devices, and audio/video capture hardware are used to provide data and signals to a computer. Output devices like displays, printers, and speech synthesizers take data and commands from the computer to perform tasks like showing visual information, printing documents, or reading text aloud. Together, input/output devices are essential for manipulating a computer and introducing or extracting data.

Good afternoon, my name is carlos Abreu and Im going to talk about the input and output

devices that are used on a computer.

1. In computing, input/output is the communication between an information processing

system, such as a computer, and the outside world, possibly a human or another information
processing system. Inputs are the signals or data received by the system and outputs are the
signals or data sent from it. I/O devices are the pieces of hardware used by a human (or other
system) to communicate with a computer.
We know that exist a lot of devices that we can use to realize a specific task, for example to
print, watch, listen, etc.
2. An input device is a device used to provide data and control signals to an information
processing system such as a computer or information appliance.

Many input devices can be classified according to:

modality of input (e.g. mechanical motion, audio, visual, etc.)

A 'keyboard' is a human interface device which is represented as a layout of buttons. Each
button, or key, can be used to input a linguistic character to a computer.

3. Pointing devices are the most commonly used input devices today. A pointing device is any
human interface device that allows a user to input spatial data to a computer.

4. Video input devices are used to digitize images or video from the outside world into the
computer.
5. Audio input devices are used to capture sound from the outside world into the computer.

NOW, LET'S TALK ABOUT THE OUTPUT DEVICES

6. An output device is any piece of computer hardware, which uses whatever data and commands
from your computer in order to perform a task.

7. A display device is an output device that visually transmits text, graphics, and video
information to the user.

8. Speech output systems can be used to read screen text to computer users. Also it is used to
produce music, speech or other sounds.

In conclusion, the input/output devices are very important in a computer because we need to
manipulate a PC, either to introduce data or information or another task that involves the use of
these devices.
