eLitmus syllabus 2015 & Test Pattern

Some of the Fortune 500 companies hire their employees through the pH test conducted by
eLitmus. Many top IT companies such as Accenture, Collabera, McAfee , Novell ,IBM,CGI,
among others have used the eLitmus pH score on numerous occasions to recruit candidates.

There are 3 Sections and each section contains 20

Questions.

1. Quantitative Aptitude:
2. Problem Solving or Data Interpretation and Reasoning
3. Verbal Ability (English)

Quantitative Aptitude (Min- 6 correctly)

Number System (at least 4 Questions)

- Probability (2 Questions)

Permutation Combination (2 Questions)

Geometry (Atleast 3 Questions)

Logarithms (1 Questions at least)

Time and Work (2 Questions)

Speed, Time and Distance (1-2 Questions)

Equations and Inequalities (1-2 Questions)

Arithmetic , Geometric and Harmonic Progressions ( 1-2 Questions)

- Mixture and alligation (1 question), sometimes asked sometimes not

- Percentage (1 question), sometimes asked sometimes not

Based on common logic ( not from any topic ) ( 1 or 2 Questions)

Following are the expected percentile based on marks you get:

30 marks ~ 70 percentile
40 marks ~ 80 percentile
50 marks ~ 90 percentile
60 marks ~ 95+ percentile

And if you score more than 60 marks, you are genius !!

Note-
Focus on the following topics if you want to get good
score(above 90 Percentile)because the competition is
very tough now:
- Number Systems (at least 4 Questions)
-Geometry (Atleast 3 Questions)
-Probability (Roughly 2 Questions)
-Permutation and Combination (2 Questions)
Time and Work (2 Questions)

Logarithms (1 Questions at least)

--Arithmetic , Geometric and Harmonic Progressions ( 1-2 Questions)

If you prepare just these topics very well and up to the level of eLitmus, believe me you
will get above 90 percentile. Another advantage of preparing these topics with a solid
knowledge is that these are also the topics for problem solving section, which we will be
discussing next, so if you are preparing these topics you are also preparing for problem
solving section.
If you are already very good at quantitative aptitude, you don't need to waste too much
of your time in preparing this section. You should focus on other section to get a better
result.
But, if your quantitative aptitude is weak, you should give time to it my friend because
the level of eLitmus paper is quite good (equivalent to CAT paper). Believe me, there is
no other way or any shortcut to get good score. Practice continuously for the next 10-15
days until you start feeling comfortable with it.
Please don't try to solve too many questions in exam because this way you will screw
yourself(don't forget there is negative marking too in the exam). Just target a certain
number of question according to your level, after all everyone knows his/her level of
aptitude. Just target to solve a minimum of 4-5 questions correctly in this section.

Please go through Arun Sharma's Quantitative Aptitude Book for CAT. That should
be enough for practicing the questions asked in eLitmus test. It covers the syllabus of
eLiitmus in a pretty good way for the above topics.
2. Problem Solving(Reasoning) (min 5-Ques)
Logic!! Speed!! Practice!!

-Seating Arrangement Questions (4 ques )

-Tabular Data (data interpretation) ( 9 questions based
on )

- Data Sufficiency Problem. (4 questions)

-Cryptograpy ( 3 questions ) ( V.V. important topic)

Details-

There are six groups of questions in this section:

- First group ( contains 4 ques) data interpretation (more
calculation)
- Second and third group ( contains 4 questions ) (seating
arrangement)
- Fourth group( contains 4 questions) based on data sufficiency

- Fifth group( contains 5 questions ) data interpretation (more

calculation)
- Sixth group ( contains 3 questions) based on crypt arithmetic
concept

Important Notes
Group first, and fifth (data interpretation) are too lengthy and full of
calculation so unless your calculation speed is too good don't try to solve these
otherwise you will lose too much of your time without any output.

Group second and third are relatively easy. Though they are also calculation
based, they involve less calculation than the first and fifth group. So if your
calculation speed is just good you can go ahead and try to solve these
questions.

Group fourth contains 4 questions mainly from number systems , geometry,

permutation and combination, time speed and distance. If you have prepared
well for the quantitative aptitude section then you must try to solve this section.

Group sixth ( cryptography) is totally new and solve if you practised

before. If you are good at playing with numbers you will be able solve this
but at a cost of too much of your time. But if don't know how to manipulate
numbers, believe me, you can't even solve it. So please practice this section as
much as you can. Once practiced, this is one of the easiest question to solve
in the whole paper.

Though the marks and percentile for this section is also similar as
the quant section

30 marks ~ 70 percentile
40 marks ~ 80 percentile
50 marks ~ 90 percentile
60 marks ~ 95+ percentile

And if you score more than 60 marks, you are genius !!

3. Verbal Ability(English) (min 9-10)

Fill in the blanks ( 4 Questions)

Reading Comprehension paragraphs ( 3 Questions) :Each RC

will have 4 Questions. (total =12 ques)

Jumbled Paragraphs (sentence arrangement) (2 Questions)

Vocabulary Based (2 Question ): Fill the pair of gaps in a

sentence with the most appropriate pair of words given.

Past year CAT questions are best to refer to prepare for this section . Altough the
level of question is not so tough like CAT but preparing from the CAT paper will boost your
confidence.

Improve your grammar as much as you can to score good in this section.
This Section is quite easy and so you will have to score very high to get a good percentile.

Note-
Following are the expected percentile based on marks you get:

10 marks ~ 10 percentile
20 marks ~ 20 percentile
......
80 marks ~ 80 percentile
90 marks ~ 85 percentile
100 marks ~ 90 percentile
If you score more than 100, be sure to get above 90
percentile.

Target at least 9-10 questions in this section. You can save a lot of time from this
section.

Note= negative marking (1/2 ) in each ques

25 % wrong ques = means no negative

Above 25 % wrong ques negative marking of 1/2

What score is good for eLitmus ?

If your overall percentile is above 80 or (more than120 marks )

is considered to be good.

If you score above 90 percentile, then you can expect to get interview calls from
good companies.

YOUR TARGET- Your Target Should Be Score More Than 150

We suggest you to firstly go with the Verbal ability section, as this section doesnt
consumes much time. One more thing that you need to keep in mind is that there will be
negative marking in eLitmus. So The best way is not attempt questions that you
dont know.

Note Try to score 120+ marks( like 140,150,160

marks)
Then compony call you

Otherwise you know

( So All the Best for Your Guys.)
