Departure Day February 19, 2017 (Sunday)
This aphorism
really serves right for our subject- CE 99 (Field Trips and Seminar). It is through this, that we may
be able to learn about our destination- the actual Civil Engineering field.
Our journey to this field may be compared to the long and winding road in a way that in
five days, it may be considered that we spent much of our time on the road. We also had lots of
destination which makes our path winding as in the case that we turn left and right to arrive in the
places we must visit.
Even before the much awaited field trip start, there has been some work done already.
Chosen students were tasked to write to the companies or persons- in charge in the places where
they expect to visit. The trip was also almost cancelled because the administration did not permit
the College of Engineering to conduct the said activity due unfortunate events that may happen.
On the other hand, if theres a will theres a way, so it was thought of that the permission might
come from the highest body that governs all colleges and universities- the CHED itself. Luckily,
the request was granted as they say, whats meant to be will always find its way. Perhaps, we, the
forty five civil engineering students were really fortuned to learn in the actual field where much
information is to be learned.
Departure day February 19, 2017 (Sunday)
We chose to have the trip at night so that it will be of our convenience because it is quite
cold at night and it will be on time for our arrival at our first target- the Frey- fil Corporation. The
ISU junction served as our meeting place. As for me, to spare me of the expense in going to
Echague I decided that I will just waits for the bus here at Santiago since it will also pass this town.
The bus took off at seven twenty in the evening from ISU junction and about quarter to
eight the bus is already in front of me in the Mabini circle where I was waiting. Then, the tiring
but fun journey finally started.
First day February 20, 2017 (Monday)
At about four oclock in the morning, we arrived at our first terminal- the Frey- fil
Corporation in Calumpit, Bulacan. Since it is still quite early, weve decided to look for a place to
eat and have a coffee first. After filling our stomachs and having chats with our friends, we
prepared already for the visitation. The building was huge and its quite near the ocean.
Like any other ordinary field trip, before the actual site visit, we were gathered to have
some conference where the person from the company formally introduced us to the world of the
Frey-fil Corporation by telling us its history, safety measures and regulations and of course the
reason for the erection of the whole structure- their products.
