Exercise How To Create Exercise

The document provides step-by-step instructions for creating an exercise drawing in AutoCAD that includes: 1. Drawing concentric circles and construction lines to lay out the design. 2. Adding additional circles and construction lines to extend the layout. 3. Applying fillets, tangents, and trims to refine the shape. 4. Creating a bottom curved slot by using quadrants of circles. 5. Saving and submitting the completed drawing.

Exercise 2: How to create exercise 2

By Isidro V. Marfori III

1. Create new file in AutoCAD.

2. Select metric units and then click ok.

Creating circles

3. Select the circle icon in the draw toolbar.

4. Click any point in

the work area for
the center of the
circle.

5. Type 19 for the radius of the circle and press enter.

6. Create another circle cocentric to the radius 19 circle previously

created but this time the radius will be 32.

You should have the two circles as follows

Creating construction lines

7. Draw a line starting from the center of the two cocentric

circle will a length of 52mm and an angle of 90 degrees.
This will be constriction line number 1.

8. Draw construction line 2 by creating a horizontal line

starting from the center of the two cocentric circle
with a length of 44mm and a vertical line starting
from the right end point of the 44mm line with a
length of 25mm.

9. Create 2 concentric circles with

one with radius 15mm and another
with radius 6mm at the top end
point of construction line 1 and at
the top end point of construction
line 2.

10. Remove the construction line 1 and construction line 2 by selecting them and press the delete key.
Creating more construction lines

11. Create a vertical construction line starting from the

center of the 32mm radius circle with a length of
72mm toward the bottom.
12. Create another construction line starting at the
center of the 32mm radius circle with a length of
72mm and an angle of 60 degree in the clockwise
direction.

13. Create 2 cocentric circle with one with radius

22mm and another with radius 12mm at the bottom
end points of the construction lines.

14. Remove the construction lines.

15. Create a circle starting from center of the 32mm radius circle
with a radius of 94mm.

16. Trim off the outer part of the 94mm radius circle. Use the two 22mm
circle as the reference point for the intersection of the 94mm radius
circle.
Adding fillets

17. Select the fillet icon located at the

modify toolbar.

18. Type r to set the fillet

radius.

19. Type 14 for the fillet radius and press enter.

20. Select the 1st object approximately above its perimeter by clicking
the top part of the circle at the top left.

21. Select the 2nd object approximately above its perimeter by clicking
the top part of the circle at the top right.

The result will be as follows.

22. Create 2 more fillets with one radius 12mm at the bottom left
part of the figure and another with 32mm radius at the
bottom right side of the figure.
Creating tangent line

23. Select the line icon from the draw

toolbar or type l and then press
enter.
24. Type tan in the command line to force the line
to snap to tangent object snap type.

25. Place the crosshair near the 32mm radius circle until the tangent
symbol appears and then click the left mouse button. This is for the
first point of the line.

26. Type tan in the command line to force the line to snap to tangent
object snap type.

27. Place the crosshair near the 15mm radius circle at the top until the
tangent symbol appears and then click the left mouse button. This
is for the second point of the line.

The figure should look like as follows

28. Trim out the excess parts and the figure should look like as
follows.
Creating the bottom curved slot

29. Create a circle starting at the center of the 32mm radius.

30. Click the top quadrant of the 12mm radius circle at the
bottom for the radius.

Note:
Make sure you selected the quadrant object snap type on the
drafting settings before you do this.

31. Create another circle starting at the center of the 32mm

radius.
32. Click the bottom quadrant of the 12mm radius circle at
the bottom for the radius.
33. Trim out the excess parts of the two big circles and the
two small 12mm radius circles.

The result should look like as follows.

34. Save your work using the proper format and submit your work.
35. Finish.
