Architecture

8.53 Setup
1) Prerequisite: Default Local node is setup, pointed to the LOCAL (8.53) gateway
and can PING itself.
Gateway Properties for the def. local node on the LOCAL gateway

2) Create a Remote gateway (points to the 8.50 gateway)

The remote gateway will already have the 8.50 node configured in the properties
(as shown below), so there is no need to configure it from 8.53.
3) Create/Configure the remote (8.53) node:

Set the Node Connector Properties

to the remote gateway (MY853GATEWAY) and PSFTTARGET connector
4) Ping the remote node

8.50 Setup
1) Prerequisite: Default Local node is setup, pointed to the LOCAL (8.50) gateway
and can PING itself.
Gateway Properties for the def. local node on the LOCAL gateway

2) Create a Remote gateway (points to the 8.53 gateway)

The remote gateway will already have the 8.53 node configured in the properties
(as shown below), so there is no need to configure it from 8.50.

3) Create/Configure the Remote (8.53) node:

Set the Node Connector Properties
to the remote gateway (MY853GATEWAY) and PSFTTARGET connector
4) Ping the remote node
Recommendations and Pitfalls
1 ) Managing the gateway properties file from the wrong release

Manage gateway properties from its own system. In other words, do not
access or update the gateway properties for the 8.53 gateway from the 8.50
PIA. Conversely, do not access or update the 8.50 gateway properties from the
8.53 PIA.

2) Node connector properties

Ensure that your gateway connector properties, and node connector do not
have any properties set on either side. This can interfere with the ping, and
cause the following error:
Integration Gateway : No response received from Gateway (158,10829)" or "bea.jolt.ServiceException: Invalid Session"

3) Domain Password

The 8.53 system utilizes a domain password. However, this is not an option on
8.50. (Domain password is a new feature introduced in PeopleTools 8.51. )
Specifying such on the 8.50 system will result in ping failure. Additional
