Project Title: Recruitment and Performance Appraisal

Targets for the week: Study the details and policies of the organization in depth.
Understand the work culture of the organization. Introduction of self to all the senior
personnel department members of the organization.

Achievements for the week: Successfully studied the organization mission and vision
statement. Detailed study about the organization commercial structure, attendance
regulations etc. Got to know about the commercial flight boards and various flight
details.

Future work plans: Data collection i.e. Primary data- Air India website, investigation,
Questionnaire.
Secondary data- Published data, personnel records, electronic data, government
records, public sector records, internet.

Project Diary

(To be filled on daily basis and to be sent to faculty guide on weekly basis)

Days / Time

Monday: Joined the organization on Monday 22/05/2017. Reporting time will be from
9:30am - 6:00pm. Air lines house is the headquarters of Air India. The CMD of Air India
Mr. Ashwani Lohani works on the second floor of the Air Lines house . He is currently
working at the top most position in the organization. I introduced myself to the senior
members of the organization from the personnel department. As a student aspiring to be an
HR i was told to observe and learn the working culture of the organization. Major
decisions for the organization are taken at air lines house.

Tuesday : Reported to the office. There are a total of 3 finger print punching machines in
order to check the attendance of the employees and their punctuality. I was told to study the
commercial board of Air India which is located in the air lines house. The commercial
board shows the details regarding the number of passengers that have flown in one day and
the number of passengers that have been flown till date by Air India. We were also told to
study the website of Air India.

Wednesday: Studied a notice regarding the hostel accommodation charges for trainees
under the guidance of the industry guide. The notice was regarding the revision of the
hostel accommodation charges for trainees. The charges are being revised due to the up
gradation of the current hostel facilities. The formalities have to be completed under the
Leave and Licence Agreement. Penalty charges will be levied at the rate of 05 times the
normal hostel charges(cannot be disclosed). Penalty will be charged to those who are
currently unauthorisedly overstaying in various hostels.
Thursday: Studied the structure of the organization. Air India comprises of for regions.
Northern region- Delhi, Southern region- Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Western
region-Mumbai, Eastern region- Kolkata. International booking offices are in America,
Europe, Asia. The corporate structure of the organization consists of the CMD at the top
position of the organization. Followed by the board of directors (BOD) that is Director
Personnel (DP), Director Commercial, Director Operations, Director Finance. The board
of directors along with CMD are directly appointed by the PM office. The appointment
can be done internally or externally.

Friday: Studied the mission and vision statement of the organization. mission statement-
"To become a world class airline and to provide finest service in the operations"
vision statement- " To be the leader in Indian aviation and India's Ambassador to the world.
Also studied the details regarding the flight. Air India has a total of 37 international flight
connections and 69 domestic flight connection. Air India is a time bound organization, it
believes in punctuality and provide premium services to its customers.
