With fusible plug designed to fail closed (at 212 F, 100C) with loss of opening pressure.
Equipment description.
The model 6100 Emergency Shut-Off Valve is spring loaded in a power loss, fail-safe closed position.
When actuating pressure is removed (power loss), the valve closes. The valve closes in the direction
of flow with the internal disc blocking flow and will remain closed to the maximum rated pressure of
the valve. The valve also blocks flow in the reverse direction up to the pressure differential required to
overcome the spring load.
Under normal conditions, with normal actuation pressure, the model 6100 valve is in the full open
position and allows liquid or gas flow in either direction.
Caution: The model 6100 valve will only work as an emergency shut-off valve to maximum rated
pressure when installed in the correct direction as indicated by the flow arrow on the valve (indicating
direction of normal flow.)
Note: Each valve has an arrow stamped showing direction of flow and a warning label applied to the
flange protectors. Flow direction must be verified at time of installation.
Operating Instructions:
After valves have been correctly installed, valves operate automatically and will close when the
ambient temperature becomes hot enough to melt the fusible plug. Valves require no external inputs
to close. Verify vent line is open prior to start up.
Installation instructions:
4: Horizontal installations:
Install in horizontal piping as shown at right.
Caution, when lifting housing with valve installed
keep assembly level to prevent valve from falling
away from the housing.

Isolation
6: Connect hydraulic hose, pressure gage, isolation
Valve
valve and pump to the IN port on the valve flange as
shown in Fig. 2.
1. Periodically check valve for proper operation by releasing the hydraulic pressure
and verifying the valve closes and stops fluid flow.
2. Periodically check the OUT (vent) port of the valve to see if any fluid has
leaked. Replace valve if there is any fluid leakage from the OUT port.
