LESSON 1 COMPUTER SYSTEMS

Definition of a Computer
A computer is an electronic device that accepts data, changes (processes) it by
following a set of instructions and can then store or output (information) the
result.

Computer systems are made up of Hardware & software.

Hardware is all the tangible parts of the system Things you can touch.

Software is the programs the computer uses to complete tasks or functions.

Peripheral Devices are those devices that the computer does not need to
complete its job. These are everything except the CPU (Central Processing
Unit). They enhance the way the functions or capabilities of the computer.

Data & Information

Data is facts or information that is raw or unprocessed.

Information is data that has been processed and can now be used by the user
of the computer.
