ASSIGNMENT 1

Engineers have helped to build the modern world and improve the lives of many through
technologies. Only a small minority of engineers, for example, is in the business of making
weapons or privacy-invading algorithms. We are part and parcel of industry modernity, with
advantages and flaws, which not only contributes to human flourishing but also to human
suffering [1].

Our main concern in this assignment is to discuss the ethical issues relating to the fields of
engineering and technology particularly related to the EET208s course contents.

Provide a case study on the related technologies related to this subject, that can be subjected
to ethical issues and relate the issues with the code of professional conduct in Malaysia.

CASE STUDY REPORT FORMAT GUIDELINE

The following is a suggested guideline for preparing your case study reports with minimum
length (excluding figure) of 3 pages and maximum of five. The report should contain:

Cover Page

(Include student names and student Ids)

Executive Summary

(If appropriate should be written last to focus on key points/findings)

Introduction

Current situation analysis and relevant background including a synopsis of the relevant
information.

Body

May include:

1. The discussion of situation.

2. What do societal values require in this case?

3. What do professional ethical standards or code of professional conduct require


in this case?

4. What would you do as an ethical engineer?
