Beamwidth Definition
Beamwidth in E-Plane:
This is the plane containing the electric field vector and the
direction of maximum radiation. The electric field or E-Plane
determines the polarization or orientation of the radio wave. For a
vertically polarized antenna, the E plane usually coincides with
the vertical/elevation plane. For a horizontally polarized antenna,
the E plane usually coincides with the horizontal/azimuth plane. E-
plane and H-plane should be 90 degrees apart.
Beamwidth in H-Plane:
This is the plane containing the magnetic field vector and the
direction of maximum radiation. The magnetizing field or H-
Plane lies at a right angle to the E plane. For a vertically
polarized antenna, the H plane usually coincides with the
horizontal/azimuth plane. For a horizontally polarized antenna, the
H plane usually coincides with the vertical/elevation plane.
Q: What is Bandwidth ?
Bandwidth means a range of frequencies with in a given band, in
particular that used for transmitting a signal.
Q: What is Gain ?
A relative measure of an antennas ability to direct or concentrate
radio frequency energy in a particular direction or pattern. The
measurement is typically measured in dBi ( Decibels relative to an
isotropic radiator ) or in dBd ( Decibels relative to a dipole radiator
).
