4-H 2017 Cheyenne Whitney, Recommendation

22294 R. Ave
Dallas Center, IA 50063
March 15, 2017

Regard to: Cheyenne Whitney

Dallas Center, Iowa

To Whom It May Concern:

I have known Cheyenne Whitney since she was in 4th grade

and became a member of my 4-H Club. A quiet, shy first year
member, who quietly watched the process of how our club works
and attended our meetings as well as most of our workshops. I
soon realized she was willing to try about anything put before
her. It developed her interests, to experiment and to reach a
wide range of abilities. Some projects, she did even though it
wasnt of most interest, but showed the strength in her resolve
to finish as she completed the projects making such a variety of
experiences. In eighth grade, her 4-H learning to cane, ended
with five different types of weaving cane, researching each and
winning the 1st Questers Award both at county and state fairs.
The next year, she finished and cane 15 chairs for others.
As the years went by, I noticed the growth toward taking
on more and challenging responsibilities. She learned the way
committees worked and became an excellent chair of
committees. I knew that I could depend upon her, for the job
would get done. She is dedicated to completing any task she
takes on, so I would know, with her guidance, there would be a
good result. We have a large, active club and I need the efforts
of club members to lead and help make the club go. Cheyenne
has been an officer for the last 6 years, including two of the
more difficult offices: treasurer (2) and secretary.
The growth in Cheyennes stature is shown through her
honesty, her caring and nurturing of others. She took it on her
own about two or three years ago to start a youth group in her
church when she realized a need. She has become a good
resource to our club as she is willing to offer ideas and also
makes the effort to help whenever needed. Her citizenship
abilities show in many ways. Working with the youth group is
one, and also she set up our facebook page when our club
needed something to advertise and give information about our 4-
H clubs 100th Anniversary great celebration in September, 2016.
Cheyenne is a good listener, thinks about solutions, acts
with kindness. She works well with her peers, adults and the
younger members, who enjoy her. Not all leaders have an out-
going demure, but her leadership shows in her quiet way of
working with others. No matter how busy she is with school and
church activities, she still finds time to help with our 4-H club
activities. She had been a mentor to younger members. For the
last 4 years, she has been instrumental for our clubs
coordinating and leading county wide competitions for Cooking
Challenges, Clothing Design extraordinaire, and Design-a-
Room competitions. This involved a lot of work and leadership
responsibilities.
Yes, I know that you would enjoy having Cheyenne as a
part of your program and staff. I highly recommend Cheyenne for
this position.
