Yed Graph Editor Manual: Flowchart Layout

The document describes the flowchart layout algorithm in yEd Graph Editor. It is a hierarchical layout tailored for flowchart diagrams that supports user-defined directions for branch edges and node alignment. Some of its features are triggered by specific flowchart symbols. It provides settings to configure the orientation, branch features and directions, edge and node spacing, and swimlane insets.

Flowchart Layout
T his is a hierarchical layout algorit hm t ailored f or Flowchart diagrams.
Amongst it s main dif f erences f rom a generic hierarchical layout are support
f or user-def ined direct ions of branch edges (out going edges of decision
nodes) and t weaks t o enf orce node alignment which produces a Flowchart -like
impression.

Since some of it s f eat ures are t riggered by specif ic symbols, t his layout
algorit hm works best wit h t he dedicat ed Flowchart symbols in t he
correspondent sect ion of t he palet t e.

Positive (Negative) Branch Direction

In-Edge Grouping

Det ermines whet her incoming edges should be grouped or not . In Optimized

Allow Flatwise Edges
