Strengths of the lesson:
Ms. Jawaher was keen and confident to deliver her first lesson in our Grade 2 class. She has
taken time to learn about the students and recognise their strengths and weaknesses. This
made it easier for her to plan a lesson at the correct level.
Ms. Jawaher asked me good questions to clarify her understanding before the lesson, to
ensure it was well prepared.
A variety of manipulatives were included in the math rotation, giving the students different
opportunities to deepen their understanding of multiplication as arrays.
She delivered her lesson with confidence and a clear voice with good volume.
Ms. Jawaher moved between the groups to check for understanding and correct any
misconceptions or misunderstandings.
She addressed the students with kindness and respect.
Delivered a good closing activity to assess how confident the students feel about their
understanding of multiplication.
Areas for development:
During the opening/introduction ensure that they have created the array correctly. Discuss
this with the class and count each row, ensuring each row has the correct number of students.
When rotating from one station to the next, ensure you have the whole class attention. Give
them a minute or two to clean their table before they move to the next center or station.
Students need a reminder of which station to move to.
