How to use the LimeSurvey 2.

05+ platform

1. Home

You can easily change the language of the platform by clicking on the pencil icon on the upper left
next to your name.

All available tests are displayed in the section below.

Status: Shows if your test is accessible for participants (green triangle) or not (red square). If
it is not accessible, there is an error message shown when clicking on the URL to the test.
SID: Survey ID
Survey: Name of survey
Access: Open = no key needed for participation; Closed = participants must be provided a key
to access the test just click on the symbol to (de)activate the test
Full: Number of fully executed tests
Partial: Number of partially executed tests
Total: Sum of fully and partially executed tests

2. Test

When you click on your test, first a short overview is shown.


The Survey URL provided directly links to the complete survey (if access is activated!)

The symbols above have the following functions:

Access: (de)activate the test by clicking on the symbol. If you deactivate the survey, all
responses will be deleted. So please make sure you export your data before deactivating
the survey
Execute survey: starts the test from the beginning (if the test is not activated, responses
will not be saved)

Survey properties: Here you can change survey properties

Change test displayed in the beginning and in the


end of the test
Here you can change the admin e-mail address
and also make changes in presentation &
navigation if wanted
Tools: translate survey or change survey conditions (you wont have to make any changes
here)

Display/Export: export survey as .lss or print version

Click on survey structure (.lss) to export the


test
Choose preferred language to show the
printable version of the test

Responses: display and export test responses

3. Modification of questions

To modify a question group or question, choose a question group and/or question. Edit a question
group by clicking on Edit current question group below Question group Name of question group
(ID: question group ID).
4. Data Export

Display responses: displays all test responses in a table

Display last 50 responses: displays the last 50 test responses in a table

Response statistics: displays statistics for all or selected questions

Export results: Here you can choose from several output formats
(.cvs/.xls/.pdf/.html/.doc) and selects the questions you want to analyse
Export to SPSS/PASW: If you want to export your data directly to SPSS, choose this icon
to export the syntax and the data sheet. You then just have to run the syntax to get
your data sheet
Import data from deactivated survey: Click here to import data from a deactivated
survey
