Third grade students will review the elements of a fable. They will use three tools, Socrative,
Quizlet, and Storyjumper to demonstrate their understanding of fables.

writing (using keyboarding skills) as well as to interact and collaborate with

Teaching Timeline
Please make a very detailed step-by-step timeline for the whole activity that you can follow

Step 1 Arrival at 4:20, setup for five minutes.

Step 2 Opening -Have students open up to the webpage with the Google Slides and links
to all of the required tools. Have students create an account on Storyjumper if
they have not already done so (1 minutes).

Step 3 Socrative:
Have students take a one question quiz on Socrative to answer the
question What is a Fable? (2 minutes)
Step 4 Review the the definition of a fable (1 min)

Step 5 Review the definition of moral (1 min)

Step 6 Review the definition of setting (1min)

Step 7 Review the definition of conflict and resolution (1min)

Step 8 Review the definition of a trickster (1 min)

Step 9 Show the video of the Three Little Pigs (4 mins)

Step 10 Quizlet:
Have the students go to the Quizlet link to play a matching game to
review what they learned about fables (2 mins)

Step 11 Storyjumper:
Have students log into Storyjumper. They will use this tool to create a
fable (1 min)

Step 12 Demonstrate how to use the tool (3 mins)

Step 13 Have students work in pairs to create a fable using Storyjumper. They must
include characters, a setting, a problem, and a moral (12 mins)

Step 14 Presenting and Sharing:


Have students post their link to their fabel on Edmodo.

Display 2-3 fabels on the board (2 minutes)

Wrap-Up: Talk about lesson (self-critique and peer constructive feedback).
