Description
For this assignment, I was assigned to compose a poem as known as in Thai. In this type
of poem, it has special technique in which the first word in each line can be read in the sentence that is
usually short but meaningful. Teacher gave us the first word of each sentence which is send-love-to-Thai
people. I try my best to compose it to be meaningful and strictly follow the structure.
In this unit for Thai language, I have learned many about this type of poem including the technique
and poetic device. We start this unit by learning basic structure of (klong-si-su-pap) as they
are many rules and restrictions that are needed to be follow. For instance, there are specific tones in some
words in each stanza. Later, after we understand about the structure of the poem, we also learned about
other poetic devices especially rhyme that helps us to be able to write our own poem.
Relection
1) Strategic learners
This type of poem has many rules and regulation that I needed to follow. When I compose this poem, I
focused only on the tone of each word. This makes me forget about the rhyme of poem, thus I need to
rewrite it again. By rewrite it again, it improves my skills in composing poems and help me to be aware of
the rules of in the next time that I write. I also researched on the internet to make sure that I understand
and write in the correct form.
2) Innovative thinkers
I write this poem by myself which thoroughly reflects original and creativity which is one of the
subcategories of this one. I also researched in the internet to find that words that have good meanings and
rhyme with other words in the structure. I also use internet to find the background that is related to my
poem so that it can describe the meaning of my poem precisely too.
3) Articulate communicators
I used the internet to find the background information about the poem and the word so that it will help me
to write the poem that clarifies my understandings and explains the meaning of my poem the best.
