allIndialevelinSSCgraduatelevelExamination2006whichgavehertheconfidenceof
writingUPSC.

ShedidntjointhatserviceandsatforCSE2010.SheagaingotRailways,butadifferent
service(IRPS).Meanwhile,shehadclearedHaryanaPSCandjoinedasDy.SPinHaryana
Policein2011.

In2011,shecouldntqualifyPrelims.ShethoughthertrystwithUPSCwasoverduetothe
agelimit.Holdon!Fortunefavorsthebrave.In2015,becauseofagitationsandpetitions
fromcandidateswhowereaffectedbypatternchangein2011,thegovernmentgaveanextra
attempttoallthosewhowroteforCivilServicesExamin2011.Thus,Poonamgotan
opportunitytoappearagainforUPSC.

ThisattemptcameasagreatchallengeasPoonamwasoutoftouchwithpreparation,being
working24*7inpoliceforce.Alsoshewas9monthspregnantatthetimeofprelims.

SheclearedUPSCprelimsinflyingcolorsbyselfstudy.Whilepreparingformainsshehad
alsototakecareofhersonwhowasjust3monthsold.Itwasnevereasy.Butshegother
bestrankinhermostchallengingcircumstancesallIndiarank308!

Inherfinalattemptshefocusedexclusivelyonselfstudyandonlinematerial.

Owingtoherspecialcircumstancesshecouldstudyonlyfor23monthsforPrelimsandshe

traditionalareaslikePolity,History,GeographyandoptionalSociology.Shereliedonnotesof
