Preparation
PerformthefollowingcalculationinMatlaborGNUOctaveto

Finally,byconsultinganatlas,chooseanytwocitiesfromwhich
thissatelliteshouldbevisible.If,aftergoingthroughthetasksin
thisassignment,youfindthatthesatelliteisnotvisible,repeatthe
calculationswithadifferentcity(closertotheequator).The
criterionforvisibilityisthattheangleofelevationshouldbe
greaterthan10.
Tasks
1. Recordalloftheparameters(includingthesatellitelongitudeand
thecoordinatesofyourchosencity).Showthecalculationsyou
haveusedtochooseyoursatellite.Usingaworldmapimage(e.g.
fromGoogleMaps)indicatethelocationofyourchosencitiesand
alsothesubsatellitepoint.
2. Determinethesatellitelookanglesfromeachofyourchosencities,
assumingthereceiverdishhastwoaxis(azimuthandelevation)
adjustmentcapabilities.YoucanusethescriptdevelopedinWeek
4sworkshoptodothis.
3. AssumethatyourchosensatelliteisidenticaltotheOptusD3
commercialgeostationarysatellite,inallaspectsotherthanits
