Lesson 1 includes warm up activities like links and dragon's tail followed by the concept game "Rob the nest" where students work in teams to collect beanbags from a central nest. Lesson 2 warms up with bean bag tag and numbers games then has the activities "Clean Up Your Rubbish" and "Trophies" which involve collecting objects and avoiding being tagged. Lesson 3 focuses on throwing skills, with warm ups like knee tag and distance catch, followed by the target practice game and "Roll it on" where students work in teams to roll balls across lines.

PE lessons

Lesson 1:
OUTCOME / STANDARD:
Stage 1- MOS1.4- Demonstrates maturing performance of basic movement and compositional skills in a variety of predictable situations.
Stage 2- MOS2.4- Displays a focus on quality of movement in applying movement skills to a variety of familiar and new situations.
OBJECTIVE / LEARNING INTENTION:
Students participate in invasion games to further develop their skills in movement and teamwork.

Introduction
Class are seated on the ground. Teacher explains expectations of the student's behaviour. Outlines what the lesson will involve.
Warm up activities:
1. Links.
Using one third of court. Children stand in pairs with arms linked. One pair is chosen by the teacher, (A) is the tagger and (B)
runs to avoid being tagged. They run amongst the other pairs. (B) can link arms with any pair and the end player becomes the
(B). If tagged, (B) becomes (A).
Advance: Build by adding two (A)'s and (B)'s.

(Teacher pairs two pairs together)

2. Dragons tail.
Students are in groups of 4 or 5. All students except one stand in a single file line facing one direction with their hands on the
persons in fronts shoulders. They form the dragons body. The single student stands facing the others they are the dragons
head.
X X=X=X=X
On a command from the teacher, the dragons head tries to tag the dragons tail. The body of the dragon works together to
stop this from happening by moving back and forwards between the head and the tail. They must remain joined at all times.
The first person in the line may not grab the dragons head to stop them reaching the tail nor use their arms to obstruct the
head.
When the head tags the tail, the head joins the beginning of the line and the tail becomes the head start again. If a group is
having difficulty tagging they may just swap after a designated time.
(Students stay in their groups of 4-5 students, split a group of needed to make 5 groups for next activity)

Students gather on the ground staying in groups for next instruction.

Concept games:
Introduce the concept of invasion games such as netball, hockey, football. The aim is to invade the other teams area to score or
gain distance.

Activity 1:
3. Rob the nest
One students run to the central nest and take one beanbag at a time back to their nests then tags their teammate to do the
same. When all objects from the central nest have gone runners may rob the nests of other groups. Team members are not
allowed to protect their eggs by hovering over them or hiding them.
The team with the most beanbags at the end of the round wins. All beanbags are returned to the central and activity is
repeated.
3 mains rules to follow:
- one beanbag at a time
- you can not protect your nest
- once all the central beanbags are gone rob from other nests

Advance: one student is selected to be the tagger. If a student gets tagged with beanbag they are to return the beanbag and
tag another member to run

(Teacher joins two groups for the next activity to make 2 teams)
Students gather on the ground staying in groups for next instruction.

Reflection:
Discuss the concepts of the game. Children mention what they found fun and interesting and what was a challenge.

Lesson 2:
OUTCOME / STANDARD:
Stage 1- MOS1.4- Demonstrates maturing performance of basic movement and compositional skills in a variety of predictable situations.
Stage 2- MOS2.4- Displays a focus on quality of movement in applying movement skills to a variety of familiar and new situations.
OBJECTIVE / LEARNING INTENTION:
Students participate in invasion games to further develop their skills in movement and teamwork.
Introduction
Behaviour expectations are explain. With consequences to follow. Positive attitude to all peers.

Warm up activities:
Bean bag tag students run around area to avoid being tagged. If tagged, stand with hand up until a rescuer frees you by
throwing you a ball/beanbag. You then become the rescuer.

Numbers move around designated area according to what is called out: jog, skip, march, high knees, silent tiptoes etc. When a
number is called, move into a group of that size.

Activity 1:
Clean Up Your Rubbish

Class split in half and line up along the base line.

Beanbags are evenly spread over the court.

On the command go children are to pick up as many beanbags as they can and throw it into the opposite teams area.

After a set time, whistle is blown and winning team has the least number of beanbags in their area.

Teams come together to work out strategies

Reminder: children are not to throw them at each other. Only into the space.

Advance: Ask the children how this can be made harder?

Activity 2:
4. Trophies
(children played this game last week but ran out of time)
Students are in two groups. They are to firstly practice running across the court making it to the end and running back BUT on
the outside of the court. Trophies are placed at both base line of the court.
Once students go over halfway they have to commit and run the full way. If they are tagged they become human trophies.
NOTE: human trophies must be saved before beanbag trophies.
Once the trophy has been saved they are to run around the outside back to the safe zone.
Advance: work together as a team to have defenders of the trophies and runners to the other side.

Reflection:
Discuss the concepts of the game. Children mention what they found fun and interesting and what was a challenge.

Lesson 3:
OUTCOME / STANDARD:
Stage 1- MOS1.4- Demonstrates maturing performance of basic movement and compositional skills in a variety of predictable situations.
Stage 2- MOS2.4- Displays a focus on quality of movement in applying movement skills to a variety of familiar and new situations.
OBJECTIVE / LEARNING INTENTION: as a result of this lesson students learn to throw with accuracy and aim at their target.
Introduction
Behaviour expectations are explain. With consequences to follow. Positive attitude to all peers.

Warm up activities:
Knee tag- In pairs players try to tag their opponent's knees, whilst at the same time trying to avoid them tagging their own knees
(odd numbers go in 3s).

Distance catch- in pairs students stand 2m apart. They throw the ball to each other. Every time they catch the ball the catcher takes
a step back. If a call is dropped they have to step forward.
Advance: non-dominate hand

Caterpillar catch- students are in two groups. Groups make two lines facing each other standing behind designated cones. Player 1
starts with the balls at their feet. They are to underarm pass the to the person opposite them (crossways action). Only pass the next
ball when their person is looking at them and free. Each team race each other. Sit down when all ball are down one end.
Advance: Once all of the balls are passed they are to race to the end of the line to continue the flow off the balls to designated cones.

Activity 1:
Target- in pairs students roll the ball through markers to partner. Make the distance between the cones smaller.
Roll a ball to stop on, or as close as possible to a halfway line
Advance: adjust distance from cones as necessary

Roll it on- Divide the class into six teams. Set up three grids as set out below. Each team has three balls. The aim of the game is for
each team to get each ball across the neutral other teams goal line. Defending players need to field the ball to prevent it from
passing the goal. The balls must be rolled below knee level. Teams score one point each time the ball crosses the other teams goal
line.

Advance: Join groups together to make 2 large teams.

Reflection:
Discuss the concepts of the game. Children mention what they found fun and interesting and what was a challenge.
