digestive problems that you cant figure out. Perhaps, you want help with gut support
and you're just not finding the answers.
I know that can get really tricky. I get it. I've been down that road and it can be
frustrating. You just want to know what's going on and you want a solution, or perhaps
you want to find effective natural solutions to support your gut and your overall
wellness.
Maybe you've been to doctors and you've tried some prescription options. They just
weren't the right solution for you, and now you're looking to natural options.
Whatever it may be for you, there's a really good chance that you're going to find
solutions to your health goals within this ebook.
2
This ebook will cover a lot of information. Were going to dive into gut health
solutions, but well also address other areas that are critical for wellness. This entire
book will provide you with tips that I believe will resonate and appeal to you because
it's completely natural, safe, and it's effective.
What could be better than that? I really encourage you to just take this time for
yourself. You're reading this guide to try to find help, to try to get support, to try to
find answers.
This book will cover ways to support your gut and digestion. But thats not all. Youre
going to learn about other topics too, that are completely linked to your digestive
health, such as hormones, sleep, and stress management. While we will focus on the
gut, we also have to look at the bigger picture.
ABOUT ME
I just dealt with it for a long time, and I didn't talk with
anyone about it. I didn't know at that time what caused it,
and I just thought eventually it'd go away but it didn't. I
finally started seeing doctors and trying to figure out what
was going on, and received that lovely diagnosis of IBS which doesn't mean a whole
lot. It just means they don't know what's wrong with you.
Over the years, I've been put on other medications. I've been prescribed medications
for IBS and constipation. I've been put on birth control. I've been put on
anti-depressants. I did a ton of different tests. I spent a week at a Mayo clinic. I just
was not finding answers I needed.
During that time, I actually worked in pharmaceutical sales. I was a big believer that
prescriptions were the answer, but I wasn't seeing that in my own life. It was this
conflicting issue going on with me. I started doing my own reading and research, and
just learning about the role of nutrition, food, and healthy lifestyle.
3
I decided to return to school to study nutrition. I attended the Institute for Integrative
Nutrition, and have trained since then with functional medicine practitioners and
completed a lot of continuing education especially in the area of digestive wellness.
I just love now being able to share that knowledge with you, and being able to help in
whatever way I can. There's a lot of stuff out there, there's a lot of information out
there. It can get confusing; it can get overwhelming. Thats why I want to help you
navigate your path.
Also with my experience, I've tried a lot of solutions and have found things that help
and things that don't do so much. I hope to be able to help save you from the chaos
and overwhelm, the financial expense and the time expense, and lead you in the right
direction.
We will be focusing on the gut and natural solutions that might be helpful to you.
Were going above and beyond diet. Definitely diet and healthy eating is by all means
the first place to start, but for a lot of us its only one piece of the puzzle. It doesn't
solve everything. It helps perhaps, but we need more support.
While the information I share in this guide is applicable for a variety of digestive
ailments, I will be focusing on IBS and SIBO. Digestive problems, specifically IBS
(Irritable Bowel Syndrome) are occurring in epidemic proportions. IBS is a diagnosis
of exclusion, meaning doctors dont know what is causing your issues. More recently,
were discovering that SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) is the root cause of
most cases of IBS.
There are several treatment options for SIBO, including antibiotics, herbal protocols
and the elemental diet. In addition to these choices, there are many other natural
solutions and more specifically, essential oils that you can safely use to resolve and
support your digestive problems.
While you might have heard of essential oils or perhaps even used them, a lot of
people still don't know what they are, how to use them, or how to choose good oils
that will help improve their health.
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds, extracted from plants for your health
benefits. They're very protective and have the power to target issues and imbalances
at the root.
4
Theyre 50 to 70 times more powerful than herbs. A little bit goes a long way. One to
two drops per serving is all you need. A small bottle of oil can last you quite a while.
They end up being pennies per dose, so they're a very cost-effective option.
As many of you know, plant medicine has been used for thousands of years, dating
back to the ancient Egyptians. Essential oils were used pretty heavily in Biblical times.
Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine used plant medicine and essential oils
quite a bit with his patients. They've withstood the test of time. They've been around
for quite a while.
There are three main ways to use essential oils. I want to cover these before we dive
into specific solutions for the gut just so you know the different ways that you can use
them. The first way and one of the main ways that you're going to want to use them
for your gut health is topically.
We'll talk about specific oils for specific digestive symptoms and ailments, but
regardless just applying it to your abdomen can be very supportive.
Your feet are another great area of application. One reason is because your feet have
the largest pores, so the oils are absorbed super fast through your feet.
The essential oil molecules are so small that they are absorbed into your skin. They go
directly into your bloodstream, and begin serving every cell of your body in under a
minute. They work fast, and I love that about oils. They can reach every cell in your
body.
5
Additionally, essential oils can penetrate the cell membrane and address threats both
inside and outside a cell. Many medications and even a lot of supplements can't do
that, but essential oils can.
Another reason to use them on your feet is for the reflexology points. If you're familiar
with Chinese medicine, there are points on the bottom of your feet that relate to all
the different organs in your body and you can use the oils that way. (see reflexology
chart on last page.)
You can use the reflexology chart to find the organs that are part of your digestive
system whether it's your colon, your small intestine, or your stomach. Apply the oils
on those specific points.
Finally, you can create your own custom blends and use those topically. I like creating
my own blends and putting them in roller bottles. You can go to Amazon and find
packs of 10 milliliter glass roller bottles for under $10. Click here.
To make your own custom blends, just add 20 drops of each oil in the roller bottle
and top it off with fractionated coconut oil or some type of carrier oil.
It makes it easy to apply, whether it's to your abdomen, to the back of your neck, to
your chest, to the bottom of your feet, wherever it might be.
The second way to use oils is aromatically. Just breathing in the oils
can have an amazing impact on your health, your mood, and your
emotions. All you have to do if you have a diffuser, is put three to
six drops of oil in your diffuser. Or you can simply take the cap off
the bottle of oil and inhale the oil to get the benefit.
Anatomically, the olfactory system is very closely connected to the limbic system of
the brain. The limbic system is the area that is responsible for long-term memory,
emotions, autonomic nervous system, hormones, blood pressure regulation, heart
rate and tension.
It's due to this fact that essential oils can have such profound physiological and
psychological effects on your mind and body. Oils, whether they have calming or
uplifting properties will help balance emotions, help calm emotions, or help energize
6
your body. Calming oils can help relax your mind so you can sleep better. Inhaling oils
is powerful.
Its important to have that emotional support because when you're not feeling well,
it's difficult to have positive emotions and you might be experiencing other
symptoms like poor sleep, or fatigue. Inhaling specific oils can help balance that out.
For example if you go to your health food store and get an oil off the shelf, that label
is going to say, "Not intended for internal use." That should be a red flag, so make
sure you read the label.
I personally use doTERRA essential oils, because the science and the research behind
them is powerful. For internal use, always use common sense, one to two drops is all
you need per serving. The oils are very, very potent and effective.
You can put a drop under your tongue. You can put one to two drops in water and
drink it, or you can put a couple drops in a veggie capsule and take it that way. Again,
just make sure you read the label.
The one thing I love about the doTERRA bottles is that they make it very clear if the oil
is approved for internal use because there's a supplement label on the bottle and it
says that you can take it internally. Especially with gut health, a lot of these oils are
going to be very beneficial to take internally to soothe and support your GI tract.
That's another question I get a lot. Are they affordable? I think that a lot of people
have a very common misperception that essential oils are expensive. I definitely want
to lay it out that they are definitely cheaper than your average doctor's visit, your
average prescription cost, and definitely cheaper than the total amount combined.
7
They are also less expensive than many of the natural supplements and herbal
concoctions on the market.
Just imagine if there was a healer in every home, if you're the healer in your home,
and you had a way to keep you and your family healthy in a very natural way, that
could possibly keep you out of doctor's offices as often as possible.
With essential oils, you help address the underlying cause rather than just masking
the symptoms. Another great thing is that they're incredibly safe and they don't have
the potential side effects that many pharmaceutical options have.
When you look at the breakdown of cost, youll see how practical they are. I'm using
DigestZen as an example because that's our digestive blend. Its a great one for gut
support. In a 15ml bottle, there are 250 drops. That comes down to 12 cents per drop.
Let's say you're doing two drops three times a day, that's 72 cents a day. It's really
affordable.
Another great thing is that you can use these oils as complementary support. So, if
you're on medication, don't stop your medications without talking to your doctor first.
However, these oils work great as additional, complementary support.
While we're going to dive into the gut and talk first about the digestive system and
helpful solutions, we need to cover other body systems as well, because it's all
connected. You need to support all of your body systems -- your detoxification
system, your hormones, your nervous system, your emotional well-being, your
immune system, because they're all strongly linked.
When one isn't working properly, oftentimes that's going to affect all your other body
systems. We want to make sure we're supporting our body as a whole.
Like I said, were going above and beyond diet. You know you need a healthy diet.
You know you need to fresh whole foods, limit the processed foods, cut out the sugar.
For many of us, it means also cutting out allergenic foods such as gluten, dairy, soy,
whatever it might be for you. It may mean following a Low FODMAP protocol or SCD
protocol. When that is not working well enough and it isn't providing you the ultimate
solution and you're still having issues, you need to look for additional support. That's
where essential oils come in.
The following are oils are the wonderful for general gut support. Whatever your
digestive problems might be, these oils can help.
8
DigestZen is my number one recommendation. If you start with one oil, I would
recommend starting with that DigestZen. Ill tell you all about this blend in a minute.
Some other oils I recommend are ginger, peppermint, lemongrass, fennel, marjoram,
and rosemary. All of these oils are great for supporting digestive health.
You can apply these oil topically on your abdomen in a clockwise direction or you can
take one to two drops internally as needed throughout the day. Again, you can put it
in a veggie capsule or you can put it in a couple ounces of water and drink it,
whatever works for you.
The best thing I can recommend for you is to experiment with these oils to see which
method, dose, and specific oils work best for you.
One lady I work with was dealing with some chronic digestive issues. Bloating and
constipation were the primary symptoms. She started out with DigestZen and noticed
a big improvement. She was using it topically but also taking it internally, and got
great results.
She was still experiencing some minor symptoms but a huge improvement over what
she had been experiencing. Then she decided to add ginger. She was doing
DigestZen and ginger and that's when she noticed the biggest shift. Her symptoms
just virtually went away.
It took her experimenting and playing around with the oils to see what combination
worked best for her. For her, it's DigestZen plus some ginger. DigestZen has ginger in
it, but for her, she needed a larger amount of ginger. Other people find that
peppermint works the very best for them. It might require some experimentation, but
DigestZen is a great one to start with.
BLOATING
I'm going to breakdown DigestZen and also talk about some oils
for bloating. Bloating is an awful symptom, am I right? If you ever
feel bloated, dont you just want the most fast-acting solution
because it's so uncomfortable?
Some oils that are good to help reduce that bloated feeling are
DigestZen, peppermint, lavender, and frankincense. When it
comes to bloating, I recommend to start off using it topically. A lot
of times, that will do the trick. Just rub it on your abdomen
topically. It's very soothing and it helps reduce the bloating. If that
doesn't work for you then try taking it internally.
9
DigestZen is the first one I would start with. It's designed to support healthy digestion
in all facets of digestion. The oils in this blend have been well-studied for their ability
in balancing the digestive system and in soothing digestive ailments.
This blend contains ginger which has a very calming influence on the digestive
system. It may also reduce feelings of nausea and motion sickness. It also contains
peppermint which is very anti-inflammatory, soothing, cooling, and supports a variety
of digestive ailments. Peppermint is so well-studied in the literature for so many
different digestive conditions.
Tarragon may reduce gas, spasms, nervous or sluggish digestion. Fennel is very
supportive of the liver and it may also help balance hormones. Caraway helps reduce
spasms and harmful pathogens in the gut and it helps with indigestion and gas.
MOTILITY
The next issue I want to talk about is motility because this is probably one of the
biggest complaints that people see a doctor about. Yes, Im talking about
constipation.
Especially in women, it's a common epidemic. When I say motility, I mean how fast or
slow things are moving through your GI tract. If your motility is too fast, you might
experience diarrhea. If it's too slow, you might experience constipation.
Ideally, we should be pooping one to three times a day. If youre going a couple of
times a week, that's not enough. If youre running to the bathroom throughout the
day, thats too much. The goal is to find that happy medium where you're comfortably
moving your bowels on a regular basis, eliminating properly, and getting those toxins
out. When thats not happening, it can also cause a lot of gas and bloating as well as a
build up of toxins.
If you're dealing with sluggish digestion and experience constipation, there are
certain essential oils that can be very helpful. Some oils that are supportive for
constipation are rosemary, lemon, peppermint, marjoram, ginger, fennel and orange.
Of course, the blend DigestZen is another good one to use.
If you tend toward diarrhea and youre in the bathroom more often than you'd like to
be, then peppermint, ginger and geranium are going to be good oils for you.
DigestZen is another one to consider as well.
10
You'll notice that peppermint, ginger and DigestZen work for both constipation and
diarrhea. Some of these oils are adaptogenic. They serve your body and help support
your body in what it needs to help balance it out. Again, experimenting with these
different oils is important.
For me personally, I love lemon and DigestZen. I start every morning with a glass of
room temperature water with a couple drops of lemon. Not only is it very detoxifying
and cleansing to my body, but it supports healthy elimination.
For other people, it's peppermint. Find what works for you. I enjoy drinking orange in
my water as well and I also like ginger. I tend to mix it up but I am very consistent with
my lemon.
Abdominal pain is another common issue. If you're dealing with bloating, gas,
constipation, or diarrhea, you might also be experiencing abdominal pain. Abdominal
pain can be caused by a lot of different things. If its persistent, then please see your
doctor. However, for occasional abdominal discomfort, essential oils can really help. A
few oils to consider in addition to the ones we've already covered are basil and clary
sage.
Clary sage is good especially if the abdominal pain might be hormone related. If it's
around that time of the month, then clary sage is a good one to use because it helps
balance hormones. It's good to use around that time of the month. Of course,
DigestZen is always one to consider as well.
For abdominal pain, use the oil topically. Mix a couple drops with carrier oil and rub it
over your abdomen. For extra support, apply it to your abdomen, and then lay down
with a hot water bottle or a heating pad.
GAS
If you're someone that is dealing with excessive gas and it's interfering with your life,
it's difficult to be in public situations, and it's uncomfortable and painful. Oils that can
help reduce gas are lavender, ginger, peppermint, and cardamom.
Again, rubbing it on your abdomen or taking it internally can be really helpful. I found
lavender to be very, very soothing and supportive. Ginger is another one. Also when
I've had these issues, just taking a drop of DigestZen has been helpful for me.
11
INDIGESTION
If you're someone that experiences indigestion after meals, then I recommend taking
peppermint, ginger or DigestZen internally. You just need one to two drops in a
couple ounces of water, and you can drink it fast. Experiment with timing, whether it's
before or after meals that helps you the best.
While DigestZen is great for every type of digestive ailment, the taste is not
everyone's favorite. It has the taste of licorice, which you may or may not enjoy. Ive
gotten used to the taste and now I dont mind it. However, if you cant handle it, then
you can simply put a couple drops in a veggie capsule. Additionally, doTERRA makes
a DigestZen soft gel, if you dont want to put it in a capsule yourself.
Those are some oils that you can get started with for digestive health and tailor it to
what your specific gut issues are. Have fun and play around with the oils to see which
ones and which combinations work best for you.
In addition to oils, there are other natural solutions you can use to support digestion.
If youre dealing with gut issues, then I absolutely recommend taking a digestive
enzyme.
If your gut isn't functioning properly, you're experiencing digestive symptoms, then
chances are you're not digesting, breaking down, and absorbing your food properly.
A lot of times, that leads to extra gas, and bloating, and discomfort.
Taking digestive enzymes with your meals can help reduce a lot of these symptoms. I
suggest finding a product that is a blend of whole food enzymes to support healthy
digestion and metabolism.
A good quality enzyme will support the conversion of your food nutrients to cellular
energy, which is what we need. I'm sure a lot of you are eating healthy, but are you
absorbing what you're eating? The key is to make sure you're absorbing those
nutrients.
Digestive enzymes can help with that. They promote gastrointestinal comfort and
food tolerance while helping to break down and digest proteins, fats, complex
carbohydrates, sugars, fibers, and even gluten.
GUT INFECTIONS
You may be someone who needs to cleanse the GI tract from overgrown yeast,
fungus, bacteria, or pathogens. If this is the case, then essential oils can be a powerful
tool. Many essential oils have antimicrobial properties, some more than others. An
12
additional benefit is that they shown not to build up resistance, and they dont wipe
out all the good bacteria like many antibiotics do.
I have one client who got a really bad case of food poisoning, and then afterwards
once the food poisoning was gone, she started experiencing what seemed to be
pretty classic post infectious IBS. She was starting to get a lot of bloating and gas and
symptoms that she was not used to having.
She went to her doctor. He gave her antibiotics, which made her symptoms worse.
They did not help. We got her some GX Assist, and after seven days on GX Assist, she
was better. It was amazing!
For me personally, I had the same results. I was experiencing a lot of gas and bloating.
I don't know what happened, but it just started up. I started taking the GX Assist, and
the results were pretty amazing. It's pretty fast-acting and helped get rid of the
bloating, get rid of the gas and all of the discomfort.
Its not meant to be used on a daily basis, just 10 days at a time and then take a break.
Then, follow it up with probiotics. I think it's important to find a probiotic that works
for you, especially if you're dealing with some gut issues. Not everyone can tolerate
every type of probiotic. You have to find the ones that work for you.
Probiotics can help with the digestion of your food, the absorption of your food, and
help support your immune system, and prevent infections.
They can help with metabolism and weight management, and they can also help with
a lot of your gastrointestinal symptoms such as the bloating and motility.
DETOX
A lot of times when we're dealing with gut issues, our detoxification
organs are not working properly either. They're not working as well as
they should, and we start to get a build up of toxins that we're not
eliminating properly, and that can cause a lot of other issues.
Supporting your detoxification system when you're supporting your
gut is essential.
There are several oils that help support those detoxification organs.
13
One option is our detoxification blend called, Zendocrine, and that is a blend of
tangerine, rosemary, geranium, juniper berry, and cilantro -- all oils that are great for
supporting your liver, your kidneys, your lungs, your skin, and your gut.
A couple other options are citrus oils. Citrus oils are great for cleansing and detox. I
mentioned I take my lemon in my water every morning because I know it's very
cleansing and detoxifying. I know that it's supporting my liver, it's supporting my
kidneys, and it's supporting my GI tract.
Lemon is the one I choose to use. I just love it. Another option is grapefruit. A lot of
people love the taste of grapefruit in their water because it's so refreshing. Those are
a few things that you can try. Just 1-2 drops in your water throughout the day is
perfect.
You can also apply them topically over your liver and your kidneys and get the benefit
that way too.
BLOOD SUGAR
A lot of times if you have adrenal issues then you may have blood sugar issues as well,
so Slim & Sassy can be helpful in that regard. Anytime you are experiencing that
sweet craving, then one drop on the tongue can get rid of that craving.
You can also add a drop to your water. It's very helpful with detox as well. Its a nice oil
to consider if sugar cravings, blood sugar swings, or insulin resistance are something
that you experience.
This metabolic blend contains grapefruit, lemon, peppermint, ginger, and cinnamon
essential oils.
14
ADRENAL SUPPORT (HPA AXIS DYSFUNCTION)
If you experience fatigue throughout the day, you're not sleeping well at night, you
just don't have that energy that you wish you had, then it could be an adrenal issue,
and you can support that with oils as well.
Basil and rosemary are good for adrenal support to help regulate your cortisol levels
so they're not too high or too low. Using rosemary and basil topically is what you'll
want to do in this case. You just put one to two drops over your adrenal glands.
Your adrenal glands are two small glands that sit right above the kidneys. You can
guess where they might be on your back and just apply those oils over your adrenals
2-3 times a day.
Another oil that's great is lavender because it's very calming. It helps put you in that
calming, relax state and helps reduce stress. Of course, heightened stress is going to
stress out your adrenals. Lavender can help calm your body down.
Adaptogenic herbs also provide adrenal support. Herbs like ashwaganda, cordyceps,
and ginseng offer wonderful benefit for HPA axis dysfunction. Theyll help give you
energy, help manage and balance cortisol levels, and help reduce your fatigue
throughout the day.
HORMONES
A lot of times hormone imbalances can cause digestive problems, but the reverse is
also true; digestive problems can cause hormone imbalances. When you support
one, you want to support the other as well.
For those of you that might be struggling with thyroid issues, a sluggish thyroid or
autoimmune thyroid, some oils that can benefit you are peppermint, clove,
lemongrass, and myrrh.
You can use these oils individually or you can blend them together in a roller bottle
and apply them to the base of your throat or to the reflex points on your feet. Check
out the reflexology chart on the last page, find where your thyroid is, and apply it
there. Again, you can just apply it to the base of your throat as well.
15
In terms of women's hormones and female hormone support, Clary
Calm is my favorite. I love it. I think it's a favorite among most women. It
is designed to support women during that time of the month.
It comes in a roller bottle for easy application. You can apply Clary
Calm to the back of your neck, to your abdomen, to the bottoms of
your feet, and to your wrists.
IMMUNE SUPPORT
There are a few oils that are great to boost your immune system and
strengthen your immune system that you can use on a daily basis.
Those oils are frankincense, On Guard and lemon. We talked about
lemon quite a bit. It serves a lot of purposes.
Also frankincense is by far one of my favorite oils because it's good for just about
everything. It supports healthy cellular function. Anything related to cellular support,
which is just about everything, frankincense is good for. It really comes in handy when
you're looking to support your immune system. One drop under your tongue daily is
perfect for maintenance.
On Guard is an immune protective blend. It's designed to help keep your immune
system strong throughout the year. You can use this oil daily for maintenance and
definitely use it when you feel like youre coming down with something. You can take
1-2 drops of On Guard in water or a veggie capsule. You can also diffuse it or apply it
topically to your throat, chest, and bottom of feet.
Now, during those times when you are just not feeling well, you're totally under the
weather, then I would recommend adding in oregano. Oregano offers a powerful
immune boost when you need something fast. This is an oil that you just want to use
for 10 to 14 days and then take a break. Save oregano for when you really need it.
16
STRESS SUPPORT
We touched on the fact that stress plays a huge role in chronic illness. It's very much
related to adrenal issues. It's very much related to gut issues. Chronic stress just wears
out your body and we're all dealing with it.
With our busy schedules, work, family commitments, traffic, emails, whatever it might
be for you, there is an overload of stress. To make things worse, when you're not
feeling well, that is stressing out your body too. We want to support our stress
response and our nervous system.
Your nervous system operates in two modes, parasympathetic and sympathetic. Most
of us operate in the sympathetic state most of the time. That is the chronic stress state,
fight or flight. We want to be in a parasympathetic state as often as possible. That is
hard in our busy lives.
The parasympathetic state is your rest and digest mode. You need to be in that state
so you can digest your food, especially when you're eating but also throughout the
day. These different states of our nervous system are meant to balance each other
out. We're meant to switch back and forth between the two. The parasympathetic
state is very restorative and healing, but most of us dont operate in that mode very
often.
I encourage you to focus on putting yourself in that state as much as possible. You do
this by implementing relaxing activities, such as yoga, prayer, meditation, deep
breathing, long walks in nature, reading a relaxing book, taking an Epsom salt bath,
etc.
There are also essential oils that can support the parasympathetic
state of your nervous system. I encourage you to use these oils while
you're doing a relaxing activity to help enhance relaxation and
support your nervous system and adrenals.
17
For reducing stress and parasympathetic support, I recommend diffusing these oils in
your office, in your home, and in your bedroom. You can also apply these oils to the
back of your neck, your chest, and the bottom of your feet.
Lets face it, when you're having digestive issues, and you're tired during the day, its
difficult to be cheerful and happy. More likely, youre irritable, depressed, and
frustrated. It's hard to be in a happy mood all the time when you're not feeling well.
I get it. I've been there and I'm still there sometimes. I'm not going to lie. It's easy for
me to get stressed out, and then I get moody. I use oils a lot for my emotional
wellbeing. When you use oils for emotional support, you're going to get the most
benefit from the aromatic use.
Smelling the oils, inhaling them from the bottle, diffusing the oils, applying them
topically to your chest and your wrist and your neck are ways to get the aromatic
benefit.
If you're someone that deals with a lot of anxious, worried feelings, then using
calming oils like lavender, roman chamomile, and ylang ylang will offer nice relief.
They help calm down the mind and relax the body.
If you are someone that gets tense, you're uptight, you're dealing a lot of tension and
stress, then you might do well with grounding oils like sandalwood, cedarwood,
vetiver, and spikenard.
SLEEP
Sleep issues are a huge epidemic. So many people these days do not sleep well and
it's because of the chronic stress we're dealing with. If you have trouble falling asleep,
you have racing thoughts, you can't shut down your mind, you have trouble staying
asleep, or you wake up not feeling rested, then you can easily use essential oils to
support a restful nights sleep.
Lavender, vetiver, and roman chamomile are great oils to try. Again, applying them to
the bottom of your feet, putting a drop on your pillow, or diffusing them in your
bedroom are helpful ways to use these oils at night.
These oils are so helpful and supportive. They're going to help you function better.

SETTING A GOOD FOUNDATION
While these oils are amazing, its one component of healing. You also have to set a
good foundation. You do that with a healthy diet. You do that with stress
management. You do that with good sleep. But you also need to make sure youre
getting adequate nutrients in your body.
Its likely youve already cleaned up your diet, eliminated problem foods like gluten,
dairy, and soy, and youre consuming fresh, whole foods. Thats so great! Please keep
that up.
However, most of us, even if we're eating super clean and healthy, are not getting all
the nutrients that our body needs.
Especially, if you have gut issues, then theres a high likelihood youre not absorbing
all of the nutrients youre eating.
We n e e d e s s e n t i a l f a t t y a c i d s s u p p o r t j o i n t ,
cardiovascular, skin and brain health, and support healthy
immune function. Additionally, it helps protect against
lipid oxidation and supports healthy function of the brain, eyes and nervous system.

These three supplements, when you're using them on a daily basis along with your
oils, you are going to feel better.
Another neat thing about these supplements that you don't find in others is that they
all have an essential oil blend in them. They're all infused with essential oils to support
the body. This is such great option to use on a regular basis to really promote healing
and wellbeing.
That was a lot of information, and Im so proud of you for getting to this point. I
imagine you have a list of solutions you want to implement. Just think back to why
you downloaded this ebook. You need a change. You're looking to improve your
health and reverse symptoms. You want to find natural solutions to support your gut,
but also maybe your hormones, your sleep, and your immune system.
WHY DOTERRA
The obvious question is, "How do I get started?" I mentioned that these oils are
doTERRA essential oils. I want you to have the best. I've used a few different brands of
essential oils over the years, and these are the best. They are the most pure,
medicinal-grade option available.
They are the best all-natural approach to support your gut health and your overall
health. I just want to tell you a little bit about why I choose to use doTERRA.
CPTG
First of all, I mentioned that this industry is growing and that there are a lot of new
brands on the market. Unfortunately, the labeling is completely unregulated. 90% of
oils on the market are synthetic and adulterated.
You can go to a store and find oils that say, "Natural. Pure. Therapeutic," but they don't
mean anything because there's no regulation to labeling. doTERRA has set a new
standard of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. That means they are the world's highest
quality essential oils. They are verified safe for all ages and uses.
We source oils from plants that are harvested in their natural habitat. That's important
because we want these oils to come from regions where the plants grow naturally
because that's going to ensure that the therapeutic properties are present.
20
be medicinal. We source our plants from 43 countries all over the world, and partner
with farmers in these countries to ensure the purest growing methods, that they're
harvested at the right time, and that they have the therapeutic, medicinal properties
in every oil. They're beyond organic, and verified pure.
doTERRA also third-party tests every single batch of oil to make sure there are no
impurities, and to make sure the therapeutic properties are present. Since you're
using them for your health, you need those specific properties to be there for you.
GETTING STARTED WITH THE PUREST ESSENTIAL OILS FOR YOUR HEALTH
If you're wondering how to get these oils into your home, which I'm sure you are, it's
really, really easy. We're a membership company, so all you need is a wholesale
membership. It's like a Sam's or Costco where you pay a membership fee and then
you get wholesale pricing on all of your orders. Were also an international company,
so you can get a wholesale account regardless of where you live. Its really simple to
get set up. Keep reading for instructions.
Once you get a wholesale membership, then you can place as many orders as you
want at wholesale pricing.
Here are a few benefits that come with a wholesale membership and joining
with me!
21
Theres 2 ways to become a member.
1. Pay a $35 membership - that makes you a wholesale member and then you can
get whatever oils you want at wholesale prices.
2. Starter Kit of Oils - The most popular and cost effect way, is to get a starter kit. The
reason why most people get a starter kit is because the $35 membership fee is
waived, so you dont pay that. And also, your oils are significantly discounted off
wholesale prices when you get the kit. And in some kits youll also get free
product.
Im going to feature the 2 kits that I like and that are the most popular kits and why
we recommend them.
The first one is the natural solutions kit. So everyone flip to the page that has the kits
on it. The natural solutions kit comes with a variety of different oils that are great for
everyday use. It also comes with the lifelong vitality pack which is doTERRAs #1 seller.
Thats your whole food multivitamin/mineral, cellular vitality complex, and your
essential fatty acid complex. Its really foundational to overall health. It supports gut
22
health and your immune system. The LLV pack is actually free in the natural solutions
kit. You also get an 8-hour diffuser which is great to use in the bedroom. You get
doTERRAs toothpaste which is amazing, I absolutely love it. Some of the cleaning
products which are great. And then an incredible sampling of oils. The majority of
people who choose this kit become avid oil users because you get a large amount of
oils right away. Its a great kit to start with.
If the natural solutions kit is more than you want to commit to right now, then I
recommend the other most popular kit, which is the Home Essentials kit. The home
essentials kit includes our 10 most popular oils in 15ml bottles. Each bottle contains
250 drops. Youll get many of the oils recommended in this guide, including
DigestZen, peppermint, lavender, lemon, frankincense, and many others. You also get
a free diffuser. Its a 4 hour diffuser and you get it for free with this kit.
