Chemical analysis reports of the abrasive has been verified per SAIC-H-
Para. 7.2.5
A2 2011 and found to be acceptable.
SAES-H-001
Note: Sand is prohibited to be used as abrasive as per GI-0006.021.
Para 8.2.3

Quality Control Equipment Check Sheet (Attachment B) has been filled


out and signed by all relevant persons. Blasting Equipment is in good SAES-H-001
A3
condition and safe to use. Para 10.2.1

B Pre-Cleaning (Prior to Blasting):


All hydrocarbon contaminants within a 500mm wide band centered over
weld are removed by solvent cleaning. Solvent or degreaser used is
either of the following:
a) SAP # 1000186759 SAES-H-201,
B1 b) SAP # 1000198575 Para. 7.2.1
NOTE: Kerosene, Diesel or similar degreasers that leave an oily film
shall not be used.

Weld and its adjacent areas are free of weld spatter, weld slag, sharp
SAES-H-201,
B2 edges, burrs, knurls and cold laps/laminations, deep corrosion pits,
Para. 7.2.2
gouges and any other sharp surface discontinuities.

C Surface Preparation

Abrasive blasting shall be carried out only when the steel surface is at SAES-H-001,
C1
least 3C above the Dew Point. Para. 8.3.3
Compressed air quality is checked at the start and at mid point of each 8
hour shift.
- Attach a piece of blotter or absorbent paper to a clip board, then
- Reduce the nozzle pressure to 388 kpa (50 Psig) SAES-H-001,
C2 - Hold the blotter approximately 45-60 cm in front of the blast nozzle for Para. 6.5.1
one minute.
Blotter shall show no water or oil contamination.

The gloss surface of the mill-applied FBE pipe coating that will be
overlapped by a field coating is removed by light abrasive (sweep)

D CHLORIDE CONTAMINATION TESTING

In subkas and areas where chloride contamination is possible. First

E Additional Requirements related to Repair / Patch up Areas

The repair / Patch up area shall be cleaned by suitable means to remove SAES-H-201,
