Field Fresh Foods PVT LTD Design For Anchor Bolts in Moment Condition

The document provides design calculations for 10 anchor bolts with a diameter of 24mm to connect a column to a foundation. It calculates the tension in each bolt based on the applied moment and axial load of 100kN-m and 55kN respectively. The calculated tension is 1.91 tons per bolt. It then verifies that the calculated shear and axial stresses in the bolts satisfy the permissible limits. Finally, it calculates the required anchor length as 317mm and specifies a length of 400mm.

Max Wind Load 70 100 150

Anchor Bolt is Design For (DL - WL) Condition.

M = 100.0 KN-m
P = 55.0 KN
S = 60.0 KN
No of Bolts = 10
Dia of Bolt = 24 mm

Column Size : Web = 800 X 8 mm

A
Flange= 550 X 16 mm

X1 = 858 mm

X2 = 758 mm

X3 = 408 mm

X4 = 58 mm

a= 800 mm
X1 = 858 mm
X2 = 758 mm A
X3 = 408 mm
X4= 58 mm

DESIGN:
P * (a/2) + 2*T(X1) + 2*T(X2)+ 2*T(X3)+ 2*T(X4) = M @ A-A

P * (a/2) + 2*T(X1+ X2+ X3 + X4) = M @ A-A

T = M/[2*(X1 + X2 + X3 + X4)] - P*a / [4* (X1 + X2 + X3 + X4)]

Tension in each Bolt , T = 1.91 Tons

{ 3vf , cal/ 3 vf + Ntf, cal / Ntf} < 1.4

where :

3vf, cal = Calculated Shear Stress in Bolt in Kg/cm^2

Ntf, cal = Calculated Axial Stress in Bolt in Kg/cm^2
3vf = Permissible Shear in Bolt = 800 Kg/cm^2
Ntf = Permissible Axial Tension in Bolt = 1200 Kg/cm^2

6.12 * 1000 + 19107 = 0.02 + 0.352 = 0.37 < 1.4

10 * 452.2 1 * 452.2
80 120 [HENCE SAFE]

Therefore provide 10 Nos. 24 mm Dia. Bolts

Calculation for Anchor Bolt Length

M= 10.2 T-m
P= 1.91 T

No. of Anchor Bolts Provided = 10

Tension in each bolt = 1.91 T

Refering IS: 456 - Table 15 :

Permissible Bond Stress for Plain Bars in Tension = 0.8

Therefore , Anchor Length = 1.91 * 10000 / ( 3.14 * 24 * 0.8 ) = 317 mm

Provide Anchor Length of 400 mm for 24 mm A. B.
