selected for their enthusiasm, experience and

management, appropriate program planning, risk
management, inclusion and support and much
more. All staff are certified in Emergency First Aid.
Supervision It is important that you know
your child is in a safe and caring environment. We
implement a standard staff to child ratio at all camps.

designate specific times for youth programming.
These programs vary in size and space by location.
Young people can participate in a variety of
recreational opportunities that are organized in a
safe, supportive, supervised and stimulating youth-
friendly environment. Activities may include movie
nights, sports activities and tournaments, cooking
activities, life skills workshops, dancing, and trips.
Youth are exposed to new and non-traditional
activities, and are often involved in the program
design. On the first visit, staff can provide more
information regarding the specific activities.

Bronze Cross
Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion and Emergency
First Aid
This course is designed for lifesavers who want
the challenge of more advanced training including
an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic
facilities. Bronze Cross teaches the difference
between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles
of emergency procedures, Teamwork, and use of
special equipment. Candidates must be able to
complete a 600-metre swim in 18 minutes or less.
Bronze Cross one of the prerequisites for lifeguard
training in the National Lifeguard Service (NLS)
program and Lifesaving Society Instructors.
Please note: Bronze Cross courses appearing
in the FUN Guide do not include Standard First
Aid Certification. Standard First Aid remains a
prerequisite for the National Lifeguard Certification
program. It will be necessary for candidates
registering for Bronze Cross courses offered in
the FUN Guide, to complete a Standard First Aid
course, prior to registering for National Lifeguard
(NLS) certification.
