Brief instructions This would be great for classes where the students all have laptops. The
of how to use the teacher would email the link to the students and instruct them as
tool follows. Simply copy the above link into your web browser and then
download Google Docs into your computer. Follow the instructions.
Once installed into your computer you should visit this website
http://computer.howstuffworks.com/internet/basics/google-
docs.htm/printable it will explain the many things that can be
accomplished through Google Docs. There is a whole host of
productivity software contained in Google Docs which will be available to
you after the download. These applications can be used to make
documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. You can choose who you
want to share your documents with. If you publish a document, it is
basically like putting something on the internet, it is there for all to see.
When you sign into your account and work on a document, it is
automatically saved for you in real time.
Ideas for how the Google Docs is a great tool for teachers and students alike. It could be
tool can be used used for individual or collaborative assignments. It can also be used as
in PK-12 an alternate place to store documents that the teacher will use again in
the future like tests, handouts, presentations etc. Not only can it be
used for storage but it is a great tool for creating such documents as
well. The applications could be helpful in making presentations for your
class which could then be shared through Google Docs as well. Google
Docs is a great place for assignments that tend to progress over time.
This is usually associated with higher grade levels and includes
assignments such as annotated bibliographies, and essays that require
several drafts. It allows the teacher to have access to the documents,
and provide feedback to the students. Google Docs could be used for
group projects for all ages, you just have to select who you are sharing
your work with. There are several easy to follow templates contained in
Google Docs such as essays, reports, newsletters, brochures, and class
notes. These could be used as assignments for the students of a wide
age group. If you dont see the template you are looking for it might be
possible to download one from another source. For younger students
the teacher could create an assignment such as discussing a recently
read story between large or small groups. This would work much like
discussion board does for college students. It could be used in a similar
way as Blackboard as well for any age group in order to present
PowerPoint presentations for the class, or distribute handouts without
the use of paper products.
Positives and One of the positive things about Google Docs is that it is compatible with
challenges of a large number of other formats including comma separated value files,
using the tool hypertext markup language (html), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and
Excel, Rich text, StarOffice documents, and Text files (.txt). Another
great thing about Google Docs is that you can access your work from
any computer that has internet access. The ease of use for this tool is
great, it is fairly straightforward in the instructions. It can be used to

create a number of documents quite easily. One great thing about
Google Docs is that it saves trees! This is a great alternative to old
fashioned notebooks, and other paper assignments. There are
limitations on how much storage space each account can have, but the
amount is quite large. You must enable Javascript and cookies to use the
applications. Some are reluctant to store cookies on their computer. At
the present time Google Docs will only work with Internet Explorer
version 6 or greater, Firefox version 1.07 or greater (but not Firefox 3)
and Safari 3.1 or higher.
