TheChemicalApplicator150isa
steelpressuretankwithacapacityof150litre.Thetankcanbefilledwithalmost
anychemicalmixture,andthenpressurizedusingtheshipsworkingair.The
Applicator150worksincombinationwiththeLongReachLanceinordertoapply
themixtureontothebulkhead.Theunitiseasytouseandhasbeendevelopedin
ordertoapplyallchemicalsandsolutionsrequiredtoreduceturnaroundtimefor
cargooperations.TheChemicalApplicator150canbeusedforapplicationof
temporarycoatingsandlimewashingpriortoloadingcargo,aswellasapplying

TheUnitorLongReachLancehasbeendevelopedinordertofacilitateeasyand
reliablechemicalapplicationincargoholds,butitalsocanbeusedwithgreat
resultsonthesuperstructureandshipssides.Usingaguidewirekit,the
extendablelanceenablesthecrewtoapplychemicalsfromthebottomofthehold
allthewayuptothehatchcover.Thelanceisdesignedtoaccommodatedifferent
nozzlesandcanbeusedforapplicationofbothfoamingandnonfoaming
chemicals.

capableofreachingaheightof30m,the
reachisadjustedbyincreasingand

materialsandsinceithasnomovingparts,exceptfortheairvalve,itisvirtually

ChemicalsCleaningprocedure

NOTE:Makesureyouusepersonalprotectionequipmentatalltimeswhenhandling
variouschemicalhandlingequipment.

Step1Drycleaning

Whencleaningafterdrycargosuchascementorcoal,itisrecommendedtosweep
andmuckoutasmuchresidueaspossiblebeforeanyliquidsareused.

Step2Prewashing

AssembletheTornado3CleaningJet
Turnonthewaterandairflow.
Opentheballvalveonthebarrel,andstartflushingfromthetanktopand
movethewaterjetinasweepingpatternupwards.
Whenthetopisreached,movethecleaningjettoanewlocationandrepeat.
Continueuntilthewholeholdisrinsed.

Step3Cleaningwithchemicals

AssembletheChemicalApplicator150&LongReachLance.
AttachtheFoamnozzletotheLance(recommendedforfoamingchemicals).
Withthedischargevalveclosed,openthefillingvalveandtheoverflowvalve.

Fillthetankwithwateruptotheoverflowvalve(untilthewaterstartstoflow
outofthevalve).
Closetheoverflowvalveandaddchemicalsaccordingtorecommendation.
Closethefillingvalve.
Opentheairinletvalveonthetank.
Checktheairpressureonthepressuregaugeontopofthetank.
Whenthepressurehasreached5bar,openthechemicaloutletvalve.
Graduallyopentheairandchemicalvalveonthelance,adjustbothinorderto
obtainoptimalrangeandfoamthickness.
Applychemicalsfromthetanktopandupwardsinasweepingpatternuntila
sectioniscovered.
Repeatuntilholdiscovered.Dependingonchemicalused,thetemperature
andmoistureconditions,theexposuretimemayvaryfrom10minto2hours.
NOTE:2fillings(50litreofchemicals)oftheChemicalApplicator150shouldcover
onesideofthecargohold.

Step4Rinsingofchemicalsolution

AssembletheTornado3CleaningJetTurnonthewaterandairflow.Openthe
ballvalveonthebarrel,andstartflushingfromthetanktopandmovethewaterjet
inasweepingpatternupwards.Whenthetopisreached,movethecleaningjetto
anewlocationandrepeat.Continueuntiltheholdisrinsed.

Step5Applicationoftemporaryholdcoating

MakesurethatthecargoholdiscleananddrybeforeapplyingSlipCoat.
AssembletheChemicalApplicator150&LongReachLance
AttachtheSlipCoatnozzletotheLance
Withthedischargevalveclosed,openthefillingvalve.
Fillthetankwith125litresofSlipCoat
NOTE:SlipCoatisareadytouseproductandmustnotbemixedwithwateror
diluted.
Closethefillingvalve.
Opentheairsupplytothetank,andtheairinletvalveonthetank.
Checktheairpressureonthepressuregaugeontopofthetank.
Whenthepressurehasreached5bar,openthechemicaloutletvalveatthe
bottomofthetank.
Openthechemicalvalveonthelance

NOTE:theairvalveonthelanceisnottobeusedinthisapplication.

ApplySlipCoatfromthetopanddownwardsinasweepingpatternuntilasection
iscovered.
Assoonasthesurfaceappearswet,aproperfilmiscreated.
Inordertokeepthedryingtimetoaminimumavoidthicklayers.Onelitreof
SlipCoatcovers1520m2
Repeatuntilholdiscovered.
NOTE:applytheholdcoatinginasthinlayeraspossible.
Dependingonthetemperatureandhumidity,thedryingtimemayvaryfrom10
minto2hours.Allowthefilmtodrycompletelybeforeloadingthecargo.

DisconnecttheAirsupplyhosefromtheChemicalapplicator150.
DisconnecttheAirsupplyhosefromtheLance.
ClosetheChemicaloutletballvalve.
FilltheChemicalapplicator150withFRESHwaterallthewaytothetop.
OpentheChemicaloutletvalveandflushtheChemicaldeliveryhoseandthe
Lanceaswellasallnozzlesthathavebeenused.

Acomprehensiveholdwashingplanapprovedbythemasteristobeproduced.The
