Reclaim Zero Pages.

Allocate Volumes (Global-Active Device).
Allocate Like Volumes (Global-Active Device).
Change to Global-Active Device Volumes.
Migrate Volume.

Conditions of occurrence:

This problem can occur when the following conditions are met:

1. Two or more of the tasks in either of the following groups are run simultaneously:

Group 1:

Reclaim Zero Pages.

Allocate Volumes (Global-Active Device).

Allocate Like Volumes (Global-Active Device).

Change to Global-Active Device Volumes.

Group 2:

Migrate Volume.

Cause:

This problem is due to a defect of the HDvM graphical user interface (GUI).

When the Reclaim Zero Pages for a task is completed, HDvM misjudges that the Reclaim Zero Pages for
other tasks that are still running is also completed. The problem occurs on the task that was misjudged.

Impact to customer operations:

Frequency of problem: Medium.

Severity of problem: Low.

Recovery from problem:

For operations other than the Migrate Volume task:

Use the GUI to choose a volume with progress that is not reaching 100%; then run the Reclaim Zero
Pages task.

For the Migrate Volume task:

Choose a volume with which the Task Status is ZeroPageReclaiming; then run the Reclaim Zero Pages
task in the GUI.

Note: only run one instance of Reclaim Zero Pages at a time for recovery. Otherwise, the symptoms of this
problem will occur again.

Permanent solution:

Upgrade HDvM to the fixed version 8.2.1-01 or a later version.
