Location Report

The student chose Romford shopping centre as the location for their 9 key frames for a film studies portfolio. Romford shopping centre represents love and romance, which relates to the themes analyzed in two romantic comedy films. Night time was selected to shoot the key frames because it is typically seen as the most romantic part of the day. The bright shop lights and street lights against the characters will create a romantic ambience and connote romance between the two characters. A range of shots will be used to showcase the location throughout the key frames.

Location Report

For my AS film studies portfolio I am required to create a location


report as part of the preparation for my creative artefact. I have
ensured that my location has to link to my contextual analysis of
Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging and The First Time. To
effectively relate my textual analysis to my creative artefact I have
researched common locations for the romantic comedy genre. This
will enable that I use the same themes within two films I analysed
into my 9 key frames. This means that my location has to represent
love and romance.

Location

I chose to have my 9 key frames


set in Romford shopping centre.
During my research I found that
night is typically seen to be the
most romantic part of the day,
therefore I tried to implement in
my creative artefact. The bright
lights of the shops behind my
actors will create a romantic
ambience. I will use a range of
shots in my 9 key frames, which
means the location will be seen
throughout. I will use both long
and wide shots in my creative
artefact meaning the shining of
the street lights will be seen
connoting romance between the
two characters. London is
typically seen, as a romantic city
therefore would be effective for
my 9 key frames.
