Mexican families are different from many families in the United States. In Mexico, many generations often live in
one house. A young man in Mexico often lives with his parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, and sometimes
an uncle or aunt and their families. On weekends and holidays, family members who live in other parts of the city
often get together for dinner. That means cooking for 20 or 30 people every weekend!
In the United States, many families consist of the parents and one or two children. Other families include a single
parent and one or two children. The grandparents and aunts and uncles may live in other cities and they probably
see each other only on important holidays or for special events.
