Either Or

Either... or is used to offer a choice between two possibilities:


1) Either Mike or Lisa will be there.
2) Either you leave me alone or I will call the police.
3) We should bring either coffee or tea.
4) You can either help us or go to your room.

Either can also be followed by (one) of + group of two:


1) Either of us could do it
2) Either one of us could do it
3) Either of you should know
4) Either one of you should know

Not either or denies both possibilities:


1) I dont think either Mike or Lisa will be there.
2) He doesnt speak either English or French.

Not either is used after a negative statement.

1) I dont speak French.


You dont either.
2) He isnt ready to go.
We arent either.

Neither Nor

Neither nor is equivalent to not either or.


1) Neither Mike nor Lisa will be there.
2) He speaks neither English nor French.
3) We brought neither coffee nor tea.
4) I will neither help you nor go to my room.

Neither can also be followed by (one) of + group of two:


1) Neither of them is ready.
Neither one of them is ready.
2) Neither of us has any money.
Neither one of us has any money.

Neither is used like not either.


1) I dont speak French.
Neither do I.
(informal): Me neither.
